WINONA, Minn. (April 29, 2011) - AJ Yusten (Jr, Zumbrota, Minn) drove in six runs over two games as UW-Stout split a doubleheader with St. Mary's University Friday. The Cardinals won the first, 6-5, while Stout bounced back for a 9-2 nightcap win.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first game after four innings when Yusten cut the gap with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth. St. Mary's expanded the lead to 4-2 with a single run in the fifth inning.

Stout (11-19)  took the lead with a three-run sixth inning as Yusten, who was playing at first base, drove in a run, then scored on Jake Duske's (Jr, Montrose, Minn) two-run double.

But the Cardinals (9-23) tied the score in the bottom of the seventh when Vince Lulic drove in a run, then won the game on Andrew Warren's solo home run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the second game, but Stout took command with a five-run second inning, keyed by a Yusten RBI double and two run double by Brian Giebel (Sr, River Falls).

St. Mary's scored another run in the third inning to cut the lead to 5-2, but Stout pitchers Tyler Gray (Sr, Eau Claire) and Chris Andersen (So, Wausau) combined to keep the Cardinals scoreless thereafter. Gray recorded the win, scattering eight hits and striking out five.

Matt Guida (So, Hawley, Minn) drove in two runs with a double in the fourth inning. Yusten notched a sacrifice fly in the fifth, then drove in one more run for final measure in the seventh.
