UW-River Falls 61, UW-Stout 47
RIVER FALLS (January 5, 2011) - UW-Stout could never quite catch up. Several times through the second half, Stout pulled to within seven points, but UW-River Falls always managed to answer back and went on to take a 61-47 win over the Blue Devils Wednesday at Karges Center.
Kayla Windt (So, Pence) hit a 3-pointer to open the second half and cut into the Falcons' lead, 31-24, but River Falls ran off the next seven points, requiring Stout to take another run at the lead.
Whitney Rawdon (So, Eau Claire) scored five consecutive points - a free throw sandwiched between two layups - to pull Stout back to within seven points, 42-35, midway through the second half. The Falcons rolled off the next four points and Stout would only get as close as eight points the rest of the way.
Rawdon finished the game with 11 points, while Windt led Stout with 12 points.
The Falcons' Tiffany Gregorich led all scorers with 20 points. Maranda Dohrn collected a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Alisa Holst scored 10 points. The Falcons pulled down 57 rebounds, compared to 38 for Stout.
