DECORAH, Iowa (March 31, 2010) - In UW-Stout's first northern game of the season outdoors, seventh ranked Luther College swept the Blue Devils, 6-0, 8-3, Wednesday.
After being held to two hits by the Norse in the first game, the Blue Devils (9-11) came back from a three-run deficit in the second to knot the score.
Stout spotted Luther a three run lead with three runs in the second inning, but tied the game with three runs of their own in the sixth inning.
Lacey Joslin (Jr, Sturgeon Lake, Minn) led off the inning with a double to right field.
Kelly Conway (Jr, La Crescent, Minn) drew a walk and
Alison Gray (Fr, St. Cloud, Minn) cleared the left field fence for a three-run shot.
The Norse (13-3) retaliated with a five run sixth inning, starting off the inning with a lead off home run.
Stout racked up four hits in the game, with Gray and Joslin each getting two hits.
In the opener,
Sam Sarna (So, Buffalo, Minn) and
Jenna Johnson (Sr, Menomonie) connected on the only hits for the Blue Devils. Stout drew four walks and stranded six runners. Luther scored four runs in the second and two in the fifth.
Stout is off until they host UW-Superior, Thursday, April 8 at 3 p.m.
