Allegheny gets past Stout twice

Allegheny 11, UW-Stout 10 | Allegheny 17, Stout 5

AUBURNDALE, Fla (March 22, 2010) - Jon Schoch (So, Chippewa Falls) hit a three run home run to pull UW-Stout to within the final score in the eighth inning, but Allegheny College shut the door and went on to take an 11-10 first game win. The game was scheduled as a seven-inning contest.

Allegheny carried a 6-4 lead into the seventh inning but Stout tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the game when Josh Anderson (So, Osseo) hit a two run double.

The eighth inning turned into a wild affair, with the Gators scoring five runs in the top of the eighth. The Blue Devils answered back when Jesse Brockman (Fr, Wrightstown) drove in Jake Duske (So, Montrose, Minn), who opened the inning with a lead off walk. Following two outs, Schoch hit his three run dinger to pull Stout to withing 11-10. The Gators went to the bullpen and got the final out on a deep fly to centerfield.

Allegheny (4-3) carried the momentum into the second game and snapped Stout, 17-5, in the nightcap.

In the opener, Anderson stayed hot going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Duske was 2-for-3 and Brockman was 2-for-4.

The Blue Devils (1-4) will play Hamilton College, Tuesday, March 23.
