MENOMONIE (November 28, 2010) - UW-Stout erased a 17 point deficit in the first half, but couldn't come from behind in the second half and were defeated by Carroll University, 78-63, Sunday in the UW-Stout Quality Inn & Suites Turkey Shootout.

The Pioneers (3-1) shot out to a 19-2 lead eight minutes into the game before the Blue Devils (3-3) started to find their mark. Stout methodically worked their way back into the game and knotted the score at 34-34 with two minutes left in the half.  Carroll took a 40-38 lead into the locker room.

Stout came out of the gates firing and Tricia VanVreede (Sr, Little Chute) tied the score at 40-40 and gave Stout their only lead on a free throw off the play.

It would be Stout's only lead of the game as Carroll's Lyndsey Seewald scored six of her game-high 30 points less than a two-minute span, giving the Pioneers a 48-42 lead at the 16 minute mark. VanVreede cut the lead to four points, but Carroll went on a 10-3 spurt and only once allowed the lead back to single digits throughout the rest of the game.

Stout did not help their own cause, committing 30 turnovers, 17 in the second half.

Carroll's Seewald led all scorers with her 30 point outburst, 18 in the second half. Janelle Groer added 14, Megan Turkes 12 and Marissa Haug 11.

VanVreede matched her career-high with 23 points. Whitney Rawdon (So, Eau Claire) racked up a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Stout will travel to UW-Stevens Point, Wednesday, Dec. 1, then return home to host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Dec. 4.
