UW-Stout 76, UW-Superior 73

SUPERIOR  (January 21, 2009) - Julia Hirssig (Jr, Rochester, Minn) scored 26 points, 18 in the second half, as UW-Stout defeated UW-Superior, 76-73 at Mortorelli Gym Wednesday.

Hirssig, who added 13 rebounds - nine in the second half - to collect her eighth double-double of the season, hit on 9-of-18 shots from the floor and drained 8-of-11 free throws.

Stout, which held a slim 39-37 halftime lead, got 16 points from Charlee Edwards (Sr, Danbury), 11 in the first half. Stout held a hefty advantage at the free throw line, dropping 21-of-28 attempts, 15-of-20 in the second half.

Superior was led by Kaitlyn Houser, who scored 18 points. Bri Davis hit 16 points and Anna Petersen collected 11 points. The Yellowjackets made 8-of-15 3-polnters.

Stout will host UW-Platteville, Saturday, Jan. 24 at approximately 3 p.m.
