Blue Devil women roll over UW-Oshkosh

MENOMONIE  (December 13, 2008) - UW-Stout overcame a slow start and went on to roll past UW-Oshkosh, 80-57, Saturday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The Blue Devils (6-2, 2-1) fell behind as much as nine points several times in the first half, but a rejuvenated press caused numerous Oshkosh (3-5, 0-2) turnovers as Stout took a 38-27 halftime lead. Oshkosh turned the ball over 16 times in the first half and finished with 27 turnovers on the night.

Stout's Julia Hirssig (Jr, Rochester, Minn) collected her third double-double of the season, dropping in 22 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Charlee Edwards (Sr, Danbury) added 13 points, 11 in the second half, and Megan Maslowski (Jr, Marshfield) scored 12 points, all in the first half.

Oshkosh got 10 points from both Michelle Boeder and Shelby Churchill.

Stout is off until Thursday, Dec. 18 when they host NCAA Division II opponent Minnesota State, Mankato.
