Baseball position player of the week
Noah Brown, 3B/SS, 6-3, 215, Jr, Forest Lake, Minn.
Noah Brown went 8-for-21 in six games last week (.381), driving in five runs and scoring three. In the first game in a four-game series at UW-Whitewater, Brown was 4-for-5 with two RBI, with a single, two doubles and a triple. Over six games last week, Brown started four games at third base, then moved to shortstop midway through the fourth and played the final two games at shortstop.

Hayden Bowe, RHP, 5-9, 195, Sr, Eau Claire, Wis. (Memorial)
Hayden Bowe pitched 11 innings over two games last week, allowing three runs, two earned and going 1-1. Bowe came in on relief to pick up a 9-4 win over UW-Superior, May 3, going three innings of shutout ball, striking out two, allowing one hit and only one base runner. Bowe went the distance in a 3-0 loss at UW-Whitewater, May 6, allowing two earned runs and scattering eight hits.

Softball position player of the week
Rachel Thomas, C/OF, 5-6, So, Hastings, Minn.
Rachel Thomas hit .500 over six games last week, going 9-of-18 with five RBI as Stout went 3-3. In a 3-1 second game win over UW-Stevens Point April 30 that assured the Blue Devils of a WIAC playoff berth, Thomas laced an RBI single up the middle to tie the score in the third inning. In a 5-2 opening game win against the Pointers, Thomas drove in the third run in a three-run fourth inning to give Stout a 4-0 lead. Thomas drove in both runs in a 2-0 non-conference win over Bethel University, May 1, going 3-for-4 at the plate. On the week, she was perfect in 17 chances in the field, playing four games at catcher and two in the outfield.

Derek Graves, RHP, 5-10, 185, Jr, Mora, Minn.
Derek Graves went 7.1 innings and struck out five to the get a 7-3 win over UW-Platteville, April 29. Graves allowed five hits, walked two and allowed no runs through the first seven innings and put the Pioneers down in order over the first four innings.

The 4x400-meter relay team of

Kate Johnson ran 3:50.62 at the Drake Relays April 29 to finish as the third fastest Division III team at the meet. The time currently ranks first in the conference and sixth in the nation.

Lydia Meier, Jr, Middleton, Wis.
Lydia Meier finished seventh in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays April 30 with a throw of 54.45m (178-8).
Men’s golf athlete of the week
Kraig Joy, Sr, Neenah, Wis. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Kraig Joy set a school single round record in his final meet as a Blue Devil, hitting a 68 in winning medalist honors at the Edgewood College Spring Invitational at Bishops Bay Country Club. Joy won medalist honors going away, scoring a 4-under 68 and winning the meet by five strokes. Joy finished the day with seven birdies, and had a bogey and one double bogey. Three times in his Stout career Joy has recorded a 69. Trey Hewuse had a 69 last week in the final round at the St. John's Invitational. Andy Smith twice had a 69 and Derek Holmes and Josh Angrimson also turned in a 69 during their careers.

Softball position player of the week
Heather Bol, 1B/DP, 5-6, Jr, Baldwin, Wis. (Baldwin-Woodville)
Heather Bol recorded at least one hit in each of four games last week, going 5-for-12 (.417) with four RBI, including a two-run home run in a 3-2 win over the University of Northwestern, April 20. Bol also drove in two runs in a 4-1 win over UW-River Falls, April 21, hitting a two-run single in a three-run sixth inning to give the Blue Devils a three-run lead. At first base, Bol was perfect in 27 chances.
Softball pitcher of the week
Tori Workman, RHP/DP, 5-6, Sr, Prior Lake, Minn. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Tori Workman allowed only two hits and one unearned run to notch her 54th career win at UW-Stout as the Blue Devils defeated UW-River Falls, 4-1, April 21. Workman allowed only two base runners after the second inning, with both of those runners coming in the fourth inning. Workman finished the game with three strikeouts and one walk and recorded the last putout of the game, a routine fly ball. Workman surpassed the 53 wins held by Karen Lien and Carolyn Bare. Over the course of four games last week, Workman made three appearances, two as starters and went 2-0. Workman struck out five and walked one in a 3-2 win over the University of Northwestern, April 20. On the week, Workman worked 19.0 innings, striking out 11 and surrendering two walks. At the plate, Workman had one hit in each of the games she played, including a two-run home run in a loss to River Falls.

Laurisa Titterud won the 800 meter at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse, April 22, with a school record time of 2:11.44, breaking her own school record by more than a second. That time currently ranks second in the WIAC and 13
th in the nation.

Emma Sapiro, Sr, Milwaukee, Wis. (Milwaukee Lutheran)
Emma Sapiro won the heptathlon at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse, April 21-22, with a score of 4527 points. Her score currently ranks third in the nation and leads the WIAC. Enroute to her win, Sapiro set three personal bests including a 34.94m (114-7) throw in the javelin that currently ranks fifth in the conference.

Eric Fogltanz, Fr, Manitowoc, Wis. (Lincoln)
Eric Fogltanz finished fourth in the 200m dash with a UW-Stout freshman record time of 21.89 seconds at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse, April 22. He also finished seventh in the 110 hurdles running a personal best in the preliminaries of 15.06. He currently ranks sixth in the WIAC in the 200m and eighth in the 110 hurdles.

Ethen Schoen, Jr, Fall Creek, Wis.
Ethen Schoen won the decathlon at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse, April 21-22, with a score of 6932 points (nine points off a school record). His score currently leads the nation by over 300 points. Enroute to his nation-leading score, Schoen set personal bests in seven of the 10 events including a school record long jump of 7.26m (23-10) that currently ranks sixth in the nation.

Softball position player of the week
Rachel Thomas, C, 5-6, So, Hastings, Minn.
Rachel Thomas extended a hitting streak to seven games, getting at least one hit in all six games last week as UW-Stout went 3-3. Thomas hit 7-for-20 (.350) with one run scored and one triple, moving her season triples total to four. Thomas also stole three bases, including one in a 2-0 win over UW-Platteville that proved to be the eventual game-winning run.

Beth Wood, 1B/RHP, 5-8, So, Mineral Point, Wis.
Beth Wood started two games last week and saw action in three games in the circle. Against UW-Platteville in a 2-0 win, April 16, Wood went the distance and struck out six, and recorded the shutout win, giving up two walks. Wood struck out four in going the full seven innings, allowing one earned run in a 2-1 over Wartburg College, April 17. Wood worked one inning in a loss to UW-La Crosse, but did not figure into the decision. On the week, Wood allowed three earned runs over 15 innings pitched, with an ERA of 1.40. Wood played in all six games last week, either as pitcher, the designated player or at first base. Offensively, Wood was 5-for-16 (.312) with an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Defensively, she was perfect in 22 chances.

Josh Halling, OF, 6-0, 190, Sr, River Falls, Wis.
Over the course of five games last week where UW-Stout went 3-2,
Josh Halling was 8-for-22 (.364) with seven RBI. Halling had at least one hit in each of the five games. On Sunday, April 17, Halling was a combined 4-for-9 with five RBI against UW-Stevens Point. In a 10-5 win over the Pointers, Halling was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Halling put the Blue Devils up 2-1 with a two-run double in the third inning, then scored for a 3-1 lead. Halling added a one-run single in a five run sixth inning. In a 10-5 loss to the Pointers, Halling was 2-for-4 with two RBI. In the outfield, Halling had 10 putouts in 10 chances.

Kellen Pearson, RHP, 6-2, 190, Sr, Hudson, Wis. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Kellen Pearson went 11 complete innings to record a 3-2 win over UW-Stevens Point, April 16 in the opening game of a four game series. Pearson threw 121 pitches in the game, striking out four and allowing one walk. Pearson allowed two runs, both unearned. Pearson allowed seven hits, but did not allow a Pointer base runner in the 8
th, 9
th, 10
th and 11
th innings, recording nine fly outs, two ground outs and one strikeout in that final stretch. The complete game was the first of Pearson’s collegiate career.

Lydia Meier, Jr, Middleton, Wis.
Lydia Meier won the hammer throw and the discus, outpacing 45 performers in the hammer and 33 performers in the discus at the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul April 16. Meier threw the hammer 170-feet, 8-inches (52.03m) and set a personal best in the discus with a toss of 145-10 (44.46m). The discus mark ranks Meier 10
th nationally in the discus.

Softball position player of the week
Heather Bol, 1B/DP, 5-6, Jr, Baldwin, Wis. (Baldwin-Woodville)
Heather Bol finished the weekend with six RBI, including four in a 9-8, 9-inning inning loss at UW-Whitewater where she hit a three-run home run down the right field line to give Stout an 8-5 lead. In a 6-2 win over the Warhawks, Bol was 2-for-3 with an RBI that gave Stout a 2-0 lead. Playing both first base and as the designated hitter, Bol was perfect in 14 chances.

Derek Graves currently has a 10 game hitting streak in progress and hit .471 (8-of-17) over the weekend in a four-game series with UW-Oshkosh. Brown hit a solo home run in the first game against the Titans, an 8-1 loss, then went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a 4-0 win. In a 13-7 second day loss to the Titans, Brown was 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI. On the season, Brown is hitting .450 with 12 RBI.

Derek Graves, RHP, 5-10, 185, Jr, Mora, Minn. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Derek Graves went eight innings and struck out seven on his way to recording a 4-0 shutout over UW-Oshkosh April 9. Graves walked only one batter and scattered six hits throughout the game. While Graves allowed base runners in every inning but two, he worked his way out of jams throughout the game, stranding nine Oshkosh runners. Graves ended four innings with a strikeout.

Kaitlin Woyak, Fr, Plover, Wis. (SPASH)
Kaitlin Woyak was the second collegiate finisher at the Ashton May Invite in the 100m dash in route to a school record of 12.38 in the event. She also finished 10th in the 200m with a time of 26.38 and eighth in the long jump with a jump of 5.05m (16’7”).

Michelle Brandt, Jr, Wausau, Wis.
Michelle Brandt was second at the Ashton May Invite at UW-La Crosse in the hammer throw with a four meter personal best of 51.67m (169’6”) Saturday. That throw ranks fourth in the nation and second in the conference, only trailing her teammate. She also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 12.31m (40’4.75”)

Eric Fogltanz won the 400-meter hurdles at the Ashton May Invite at UW-La Crosse Saturday with a time of 54.79 seconds, a time that currently leads the conference and ranks 22nd in the nation. He also ran 15.32 in the 110-meter hurdles which currently ranks him 6th in the conference.

Emma Sapiro finished second in the 400m hurdles at the Washington University Mini-Meet March 25 with a time of 1:05.58, a personal best, and a mark that ranked 14
th in the nation when it was set. She also finished third in the javelin with a throw of 32.84m or 107-9.

Lydia Meier won the hammer throw (55.18m, 181-0) and finished second in the discus (42.44m, 139-3) Washington University Mini-Meet March 25. At the time the marks were set they ranked second and eighth in the nation, respectively.

Dylan Kline, So, Albertville, Minn. (Rogers) - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Dylan Kline won medalist honors at the spring-opening Aurora University Invitational, April 1-2, turning in a 74 on the opening day. The second day of the meet was shortened to only a nine-hole event due to high winds and other inclement weather. Kline shot a 43 and finished the tournament with a low score of 117. The Blue Devils took first in the four-team meet.

Softball position player of the week
Beth Wood, 1B/RHP, 5-8, So, Mineral Point, Wis.
In 10 games at the Fastpitch Dreams Softball Classic in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.,
Beth Wood went 13-of-31 (.419) from the plate with a team-high nine RBI and recorded seven runs. Wood recorded the game winning RBI, a sacrifice fly, in a 3-2 win over Albright College, March 18, then sealed a come-from-behind 4-0 win with a two run single in the top of the seventh. Wood saw action either at first base, at pitcher or the designated player. In the field, she committed one error in 45 chances, and that came as a pitcher early in the week. In the circle, Wood threw four games, going 2-1 with 15.1 innings pitched, finishing with a 3.20 ERA.

Tori Workman, RHP/CF, 5-6, Sr, Prior Lake, Minn. - WIAC Pitcher of the Week
Tori Workman saw action in the circle in seven of UW-Stout’s final 10 games at the Fastpitch Dreams Softball Classic in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Workman started four games, finishing with an ERA of 1.28 and a record of 3-2. Workman surrendered 17 runs over 38.1 innings pitched, but only seven were earned. Workman recorded 30 strikeouts – in the process set the school record for most strikeouts in a career – and allowed six walks and hit one batter. Workman recorded a save in a 4-3 win over Rutgers-Camden, striking out two. Workman also played centerfield in six games and was 8-of-27 at the plate (.296) with six RBI and eight runs scored.

Over the course of 11 games,
Noah Brown was 19-of-42 from the plate, driving in 10 runs and scoring eight during UW-Stout’s 11-game spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla. Brown finished the week with five doubles and one triple. Six times, Brown recorded at least two hits in a game. With runners on base, Brown was 17-of-32 (.531). In a 10-5 win over Edgewood College, Brown was a home run short of hitting for the cycle and was 7-of-8 over the two games with the Eagles. Starting all 11 games, Brown played five games at first base, five at third base and once was the designated hitter. In 55 chances, Brown committed only one error (.982).

Hayden Bowe made two appearances during UW-Stout’s 11-game spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla., pitching 12.0 innings with an ERA of 3.00 and a 1-0 record. Bowe struck out six and allowed one earned run over five innings against Bethel University, but did not figure into the decision. In a 7-3 come-from-behind win over Vassar College, Bowe went the full seven innings, allowing three earned runs in the second inning. Bowe settled in to a groove after that, allowing only two hits the rest of the way. Bowe recorded the win, surrendering five hits. He had two strikeouts and a walk.
Gymnastics all-arounder of the week
Kaylee Jondahl, Jr, Anoka, Minn. (Elk River) - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Kaylee Jondahl finished sixth in the all-around, earning first team All-America honors at the NCGA Championship, Friday, March 18 at the College at Brockport. During the all-around competition, Jondahl set a school record of 9.90 on the floor exercise, breaking her own school record of 9.825, a mark she set last year when she won the WIAC individual floor exercise championship. Jondahl scored a 9.70 on the vault, a 9.25 on the uneven bars and a 9.525 on the balance beam to set a personal best all-around score of 38.375. Jondahl also earned second team All-America honors individually, placing 10
th on the floor exercise Saturday, March 19, with a score of 9.70. Jondahl has now won four All-America honors, twice on the floor and twice the All-Around. Jondahl also competed individually on the vault, placing 18
th.
Women’s field athlete of the week
Lydia Meier, Jr, Middleton, Wis. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Lydia Meier finished second at the NCAA Division III Women’s Track and Field Championship in the weight throw with a mark of 61-9. Meier launched her best throw of the day on her fifth throw, then matched the mark exactly on the sixth and final throw. Meier finished the day at 61-feet, 9-inches, short of Baldwin-Wallace's Kim Gallavan who uncorked a throw of 62-8. Five of Meier’s six throws exceeded 60 feet. Meier was the only competitor among the nine finalists who did not foul on any of her throws. The 61-9 mark is the second best mark of her career. Meier set the school record of 62-9.50 when she won the conference title Feb. 26-27. With the exception of one meet, all of Meier’s final marks this year in the weight throw exceeded 59 feet.

Ethen Schoen, Jr, Fall Creek, Wis.- UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Ethen Schoen captured the NCAA Division III heptathlon title at the 2016 national event held at the Grinnell College, March 11-12. Schoen led after the first day and held off his competition, heading into the final event – the 1000m – knowing exactly what he needed to do and executed the feat perfectly to become UW-Stout’s second heptathlon national champion. Zach Anderson earned the title in 2014 when Schoen was a freshman. Personal records were a mainstay for Schoen during the 2016 championship. Finishing with a personal best overall point total of 5031, Schoen had PRs in the 60m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60-hurdles and 1000-meter. The only event he missed a PR was the pole vault and Schoen entertained thoughts that might cost him the title. Schoen led by 88 points after the first day.

In two games on the first day of action at the Fastpitich Dreams Softball Classic in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.,
Beth Wood was 4-for-7 (.571) with three RBI. In a 13-5 loss to Eureka College, Wood was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and scored a run. In the second game, a 3-0 win over Spalding University, Wood pitched four innings of scoreless ball to record her first win of the season, and was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Wood played at first base, committing no errors in 15 chances

Softball position player of the week
Rachel Thomas, C, 5-6, So, Hastings, Minn.
Rachel Thomas was 3-for-7 (.429) from the plate in a pair of season opening losses to St. Benedict March 4. Thomas played catcher in the first game, and moved to the outfield in the second game. In the second game, Thomas reached on a bunt single, then scored from second base on a single to right field. Thomas also reached on one-out triple, but was stranded at third.

Tori Workman struck out three, walked none and allowed one earned run in a season opening 7-0 loss to St. Benedict March 4. In the two games at the plate, Workman was 3-for-7 with two doubles and two RBI, including driving in Stout’s first runs of the season in a 10-4 second game loss.
Kaylee Jondahl, Jr, Anoka, Minn. (Elk River)
Kaylee Jondahl repeated as the conference floor exercise champion, tying with Gustavus’ Alex Kopp with a 9.775. Jondahl also finished fifth in the all around (37.775) and was seventh on the vault (9.575). Jondahl qualified to the NCGA Championship in the floor, all-around and the vault.
Kelly Huseman, Jr, Tampa, Fla. (Freedom) - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Kelly Huseman won her first conference title when she finished in a three-way tie on the balance beam with a 9.70. Huseman finished 11th on the vault (9.55). Huseman qualified to the NCGA Championship in both the balance beam and the vault.

Gymnastics specialist of the week
Randi Schorzman, Sr, Buckley, Wash. (White River)
Randi Schorzman scored a career-best 9.725 on the balance beam in placing sixth among three NCAA Division I schools Feb. 28 at Illinois State University. Schorzman topped her previous career-best of 9.675 Sunday and finished ahead of 12 Division I athletes in the balance beam. The Blue Devils scored their highest team score of the season, a 184.60.
Gymnastics all-arounder of the week
Kaylee Jondahl, Jr, Anoka, Minn. (Elk River)
Kaylee Jondahl had a spectacular showing on three events as UW-Stout competed against three NCAA Division I opponents Feb. 28 at Illinois State University. She posted a 9.725 on both the vault and the floor exercise. Jondahl had a career-best performance on the uneven bars after scoring a 9.425 and finished with an all-around score of 37.450. Jondahl scored ahead of seven Division I performers on the vault, four on the bars and six on the floor.

Emma Sapiro, Sr, Milwaukee, Wis. (Milwaukee Lutheran) - co-UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Emma Sapiro had an exciting finish, winning the pentathlon on the final event with a career-best 800 meter run, allowing her to win the pentathlon by three points. Sapiro, who was in fourth place after four events, ran a four-second personal best 2:24.01 in the 800, allowing her to edge UW-La Crosse's Shelby Graham by three points (3163-3158) for the conference title. With the exception of the 800-meter, Saprio did not finish in first in any of the individual pentathlon events. Sapiro is currently ranked 19th nationally.

Ethen Schoen, Jr, Fall Creek, Wis. - co-UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Ethen Schoen had a very strong first day in the heptathlon at the WIAC Championship, then held off his competition on the second day to win the seven event competition by 88 points. Of the heptathlon competitors, Schoen had the best marks in the 60-meter dash (7.26), the long jump (22-2.25) and the high jump (6-3.50) and was seventh in the shot put (37-2.25). On day two, Schoen was second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.82), third in the pole vault (12-7.50) and seventh in the 1000-meter run (3:02.08). Schoen is currently ranked seventh nationally.

Women's basketball athlete of the week
Sarah Schoch, G, 5-9, Jr, Chippewa Falls, Wis. (McDonell)
Sarah Schoch closed out the regular season with three consecutive games scoring in double figures, including two games last week where she scored 20 points in an 82-66 loss at UW-River Falls, Feb. 17, and 17 points in a home 99-71 win over UW-Platteville, Feb. 20. Against River Falls, Schoch hit 4-of-9 3-pointers and was 8-of-15 from the field. Against Platteville, Schoch was 5-of-14 from the floor with two 3-pointers and was 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Schoch was Stout's leading scorer in both games.

Jalen Patterson stepped up his game in the second round of the WIAC schedule, scoring in double digits in the last seven games of the season. Patterson scored a career-best 20 points in an 81-79 loss to UW-River Falls, Feb. 17, then added 17 points in an 87-80 loss at UW-Platteville to close out the season. On the week, Patterson was 16-of-27 from the field, 3-of-7 from 3-point range, 2-of-3 from the line, had 15 rebounds, two assists, four blocked shots and four steals.
Hockey athlete of the week
Craig Lindegard, F, 6-2, 210, Jr, Hallock, Minn. - D3hockey team of the week; UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual athlete of the week
Craig Lindegard recorded two assists in a 3-2 first round WIAC playoff win and added an assist in a 5-3 second game loss to UW-Superior. But it was in the mini-game where Lindegard stepped up, scoring two goals within an eight minute time frame that gave Stout a 3-2 win in the mini-game, advancing the Blue Devils to the second round of the WIAC Championship. In the 3-2 opening game win, Lindegard assisted on the game's first goal and on the eventual game-winning goal.

Randi Schorzman scored a season-best 9.600 in winning the balance beam in a dual meet at UW-Oshkosh, Feb. 19. The mark was 0.075 points short of a career-best Schorzman set last season at the NCGA Championship.

Diedrich was 4-for-6 from the floor against the Pointers and added five rebounds, an assist and two steals. She was 4-of-7 against the Warhawks, with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Jenna Goldsmith keyed a UW-Stout 59-52 upset win over 10th ranked UW-Oshkosh Feb. 6 in Oshkosh. Goldsmith led the Blue Devils with 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds to go along with four blocked shots and one assist. Goldsmith hit a jumper with 2:05 left in the game to break a 51-51 tie. Less than a minute later, she hit another bucket to give Stout a three-point, 55-52, lead, a lead the Blue Devils would not relinquish. In a 60-58 loss to La Crosse, Feb. 3, Goldsmith scored six points and had three blocked shots. Goldsmith has recorded at least one blocked shot in 20-of-21 games this season and has recorded two or more blocked shots in 15 games.

In a loss at UW-La Crosse, Feb. 3, Patterson finished with 10 points, three rebounds, an assist and three steals.

Kelly Huseman won the balance beam and tied for first on the uneven bars as UW-Stout dropped a dual meet at Hamline University, Feb. 5. Huseman captured the beam with a score of 9.55, matching a personal best, and tied with teammate Kaylee Jondahl on the bars with a 9.275. Huseman also finished second on the vault with a personal best score of 9.60.

Kaylee Jondahl won the all-around competition in a dual meet at Hamline University, Feb. 5, and also set a new school record when she took the top spot in the vault. Jondahl, who owned the previous vault record of 9.75, topped the field with a score of 9.80, helping the Blue Devils as a team break the school team record in the vault (48.00). Jondahl scored a season-high 37.625 in the all-around and was second on the floor exercise with a 9.625.

Kaitlin Woyak won the 60m dash at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational, Feb. 6, with a school record time of 7.85 which leads the WIAC and ranks 16th in the nation. She also finished fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 26.48 which was a UW-Stout freshman record.

Laurisa Titterud won the 400-meter at the Warren Bowlus Open by more than three seconds Jan. 30 in a time of 57.91-seconds. The time leads the conference, set a school record and is currently sixth in the nation. Titterud set the Blue Devil 400 school record last season with a time of 57.96 seconds.

Kyleigh Hebert hit the game-winning shot, a 3-pointer with 29 seconds remaining, to lift UW-Stout to a 71-68 win over UW-La Crosse, Jan. 20. In that contest, Hebert scored a team-high 14 points, hitting 6-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-3 from 3-point range. In addition, she had six assists, two blocked shots and three steals. Hebert was the Blue Devils' leading scorer in both games this week, tossing 16 points in a loss to UW-Oshkosh, Jan. 23. On the week, Hebert was 13-of-22 from the floor, 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and 2-of-4 from the free throw line. Hebert currently averages 11.2 points and leads the conference in assists (4.6) and is second in steals (2.7).

For the second consecutive week,
Lydia Meier set a school weight throw record, this time obliterating her own record by two feet with a toss of 61-feet, 7-inches, easily surpassing the mark of 59-5 she set last week. Meier, who was named the national Division III field athlete of the week for last week's effort, came into this week's meet leading the nation by two feet, and her throw Saturday extended her lead another two feet.

Brandyn Christman scored a career-best 13 points and sparked a first half comeback by hitting three consecutive 3-pointers to give Stout a narrow 24-22 lead and the Blue Devils took a 29-28 lead over UW-Platteville into halftime. The Pioneers would win the game in overtime, 66-62, Jan. 16. Christman also finished with five rebounds.

Team captain
Jake Useldinger scored three goals and two assists over two games last weekend as UW-Stout extended their winning streak to three games and their unbeaten streak to six games. In a 5-3 win at St. Thomas, Jan. 15, Useldinger scored the first goal of the game with just over minutes remaining in the first period, then assisted on two goals in a wild third period. Coming into the period, the teams were tied when Useldinger assisted Tyler Cayemberg on a power play goal midway through the third period, then assisted on a short-handed goal two minutes later by Tate Rusk to put the Blue Devils ahead 4-2. In a 6-3 win at Saint Mary's University, Jan. 16, Useldinger gave the Blue Devils a 4-2 lead on a power play goal with 14 seconds remaining in the second period. Useldinger would give Stout some breathing room at 19:22 of the third period on an unassisted, empty net goal for a 5-3 lead.

For the second time in as many meets,
Callie Counts scored a career-best in the balance beam when she finished second on the event at the Winona State University "Smile On" Quadrangular. Counts scored a 9.625 in finishing second on the beam Jan. 15. Over her first two meets this season, Counts has scored a 9.60 and a 9.625, more than a half-point over the average scores of her first three seasons. As a freshman, Counts averaged 8.75 on the beam, as a sophomore 8.60 and as a junior 9.00. Counts has competed in every meet on the balance beam throughout her career.

Jenna Goldsmith recorded her third double-double of the season when she scored 25 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-76 loss to UW-River Falls, Jan. 9. Goldsmith scored 14 points in the second half. On the night, Goldsmith was 14-of-23 from the floor, including stepping out to drop in 2-of-3 3-point shots. Goldsmith had eight points and eight rebounds in a conference opening loss at UW-Whitewater, Jan. 6. Goldsmith also had two blocked shots in each game. Goldsmith has had at least one blocked shot in 12 of 13 games this season.

Joe Anderson scored his first collegiate hat trick in a 5-3 win at Gustavus Adolphus, Jan. 9. Anderson scored the Blue Devils' first goal of the night, a power play goal at 4:21 of the first period. After the Gusties tied the game midway through the first period, Anderon would render the assist to Justin Moody early in the second period to put Stout up, 2-1. Anderson would tie the game at 3-3 in the third period when he got his first of two third period goals, scoring unassisted at 2:09. The Blue Devils would take the lead midway through the period, and Anderson would put the game away with an empty net goal in the final minute of the contest. The night before in a 4-4 tie with Hamline University, the freshman would score two minutes into the second period to tie the game at 1-1. On the weekend, Anderson would tally four goals and one assist. He put five shots on goal against Gustavus and three against Hamline. On the season, Anderson has six goals and six assists.

Kenzie Hyde captured first in the all-around and in the uneven bars in a dual meet with UW-La Crosse, Jan. 8, where the Blue Devils scored their highest season opening score of 183.400. Hyde scored a 9.375 in winning the uneven bars, and matched a personal best in finishing second in the floor exercise with a 9.40. Hyde took first in the all-around with a 37.675, 0.325 short of her personal best. Hyde finished fourth on the balance beam with a 9.50 and scored a 9.40 on the vault.

Jenna Goldsmith recorded 16 blocked shots last week over three games that saw UW-Stout go 2-1. Goldsmith recorded six blocked shots in a 79-61 win over Penn State Behrend, Dec. 29, two in a 76-62 win against Hamilton College, Dec. 30, and eight in a one-point, 74-73 loss to Saint Mary's University, Jan. 2. Goldsmith recorded her second and third double-doubles in the first two games at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn., recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds against Behrend and 16 points and 11 rebounds against Hamilton. Goldsmith finished with eight points and eight rebounds against St. Mary's.

John Keefe was selected to the all-tournament team at the D3hoops.com Classic last week in Las Vegas, Nev., after the Blue Devils split a pair of games. In a 63-62 win over Skidmore College, with the scored tied at 56, Keefe scored back-to-back baskets in the final 90 seconds to give Stout a lead they would not relinquish. Keefe finished the game with 10 points, three assists and a steal. In a tournament opening 73-56 loss to Pacific Lutheran, Keefe scored nine points.

Sarah Schoch scored 14 points in UW-Stout's 87-63 win at St. Scholastica, Dec. 15. Defensively, Schoch played a big part into forcing the Saints to shoot 38.1 percent from the floor. Schoch recorded a season-best five steals, all in the first half, as the Saints committed 27 turnovers and Stout took a 47-27 halftime lead. Schoch was 6-of-11 from the floor, 2-of-4 from 3-point range, had two rebounds and three assists.

Bailey Diersen tied the score with a 3-pointer with 47 seconds remaining in the game, but the University of Dubuque would make all of their free throws the rest of the way as Stout lost, 79-76, Dec. 8. Diersen finished the game with 11 points, hitting 5-of-8 from the field, including one 3-pointer, had two rebounds and two steals.

John Lahti was perfect from the floor and scored a career-high 16 points as UW-Stout, shooting 54 percent as a team, defeated the University of Dubuque, 82-74, Tuesday, Dec. 8. Lahti drained all six of his field goals and was 4-of-5 from the line to lead the Blue Devils to their third win of the season. Lahti also pulled down six rebounds.

Nick Schmit, G, 6-0, 190, Fr, Fargo, ND - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Nick Schmit went 2-0-0 last week, getting a 3-1 win over Concordia-Moorhead in making his first collegiate start, Dec. 11, then recorded a 5-3 win over St. Olaf, Dec. 12. In the win over Concordia, Schmit allowed an early goal, then stopped everything the Cobbers threw his way on his way to making 35 saves. Schmit stopped eight shots in the first period, 16 in the second and 11 in the first in his first extended action of the season. In the win over St. Olaf, Schmit recorded 22 saves and gave up a power play goal and a goal late with an additional Ole attacker on the ice. Over the weekend, Schmit made 57 saves, had a saves percentage of .934 and finished with a GAA of 2.00.

John Keefe averaged 25 points over two games last week, scoring 26 points in a loss at UW-Superior and 24 points in a loss to Buena Vista University. In Superior, Keefe was Keefe was 8-of-18 from the floor, 6-of-13 from beyond the arc and perfect at the free throw line in four attempts. Against Buena Vista, Keefe 9-of-16 from the field, 4-of-9 from 3-point range and 2-of-4 from the line. Keefe also had a game-high six assists, pulled down five rebounds and added a steal. Jenna Goldsmith scored in double figures in three games last week as UW-Stout went 2-1. Coming off a career-high 23 points the week before in Stout's first win of the season, Goldsmith scored 14 points and had eight rebounds in a 78-69 win at Augsburg College, then had 13 points in an 86-63 win over Hamline University. Goldsmith poured in 21 points, had nine rebounds and four blocked shots in an 81-79 loss to undefeated St. Catherine University Sunday. Goldsmith has scored in double figures five out of six games, averaging 14.3 points and 8.0 rebounds and is currently ranked in conference 5th scoring (14.3), 4th rebounds (8.0), 9th field goal percentage (.500), 3rd blocked shots (2.2).

Jalen Patterson scored 16 points, pulled down a career-best nine rebounds, recorded seven steals, one short of the school record, and had one assist and one blocked shot as UW-Stout defeated Bethany Lutheran College, 93-92, in overtime, Nov. 24. Patterson scored 11 points - six points in the final five minutes of regulation - and had seven rebounds in the second half of the game to spark UW-Stout's comeback.

Jenna Goldsmith scored a career-best 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in leading UW-Stout to their first win of the season, an 83-75 win over Simpson College, Nov. 21. Goldsmith was 8-of-17 from the field and was perfect at the free throw line in seven attempts. In a loss to Gustavus Adolphus, Goldsmith scored 10 points and had four rebounds. On the week, Goldsmith averaged 16.5 points, shot 11-of-26 from the field and made all 11 free throws attempted.

Isaac Elliott was named to the all-tournament team as UW-Stout split a pair of games at the Buzz Levick Tournament at Wartburg College. Elliott matched a career-high 14 points as the Blue Devils lost to Monmouth College in the opener, then scored a team-high 13 points in an 88-51 win over Emmaus Bible College. Against Monmouth, Elliott was 3-for-11 from the field, with two 3-pointers, and was perfect in six free throw attempts. Elliott had a career-high five rebounds. Against Emmaus, Elliott was 4-for-5 from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Elliott made one free throw and had two rebounds.

Tyler Cayemberg scored his first career hat trick as UW-Stout defeated Concordia University Wisconsin, 5-2, Nov. 21. Cayemberg got the Blue Devils on the board with a power play goal midway through the first period. Cayemberg would put Stout up 3-1 with his second power play goal of the game, this coming midway through the second period. Cayemberg completed the hat trick with an empty net goal with three seconds remaining in the game.

What else can you say? A little better than a week ago,
Kathleen Thorn was wearing a boot. Saturday, Thorn had recorded a seventh place and an All-American performance, leading the pack for a bit, falling back to 16th and coming back in the final 1000-meters to edge all WIAC and Midwest Region runners to finish seventh, Stout's second best finish ever at the national meet. (Katie Jacobson was sixth in 1997).

Jay Alston made his first extended appearance, completing 15-of-33 passes for 135 yard and two TDs, but was picked off twice. Alston led two long scoring drives, ]a 14-play, 5-minute, 33-second, 76-yard drive. Alston completed 5-of-8 passes in the drive, including a 24-yard pass to Jordan Dabney on third down early in the drive to move the chains. Alston completed the drive by finding Chris Pica-Anderson for an eight-yard score and Stout trailed 14-7. Alston engineered another long scoring drive late in the game, going 76 yards in 11 plays, capping off the drive with an eight yard pass to Brian Alvarez.

Women's cross country runner of the week
Kathleen Thorn, Sr, West Salem, Wis.
Kathleen Thorn earned her second trip to the national championship with a fourth place finish at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet in Rock Island, Ill., Saturday. Thorn was only seven seconds off the pace at the regional meet, finishing with a time of 21-minutes, 23.8-seconds. Thorn last season finished 73rd at the national meet. Thorn cruised the 6-kilometer course in 21-minutes, 23.8-seconds, less than a second over her own school record. Thorn's fourth place finish tied a program best finish. Katie Jacobson finished fourth in 1998. Thorn's trip to the national meet will mark the first time since 1997 and 1998 that the program has been represented at the national meet in back-to-back years.

Tony Cass will make his second trip to the national championship, and earned his spot as an at-large runner, finishing 24th at the regional meet in a career-best time of 24:51.4. Cass last season finished 211th at the national meet. Cass' trip to the national meet marks the program's sixth consecutive season of representation nationally, the program's longest streak.The men's current streak of four consecutive Top 10 finishes is the program's most successful stretch since joining the NCAA DIII Midwest Region about 25 years ago ('91 for sure but maybe '90). The program's longest streak of Top 10 finishes sits at 5 years ('92-'96). Tony's trip marks the programs 6th consecutive season of representation at the national meet; the program's longest streak. Tony's All-Region performance is the twelfth in the last six years and just the 20th in school history. Tony's 24:51 makes him the program's ninth Stout male to break 25 minutes; the fifth different individual in the last six years.

Hank Kujak completed 16-of-31 passes for 325 yards and three TDS, but perhaps none as big as a 73-yard completion to Brian Alvarez to the UW-Stevens Point 7 yard line with less than a minute remaining in the game. Two plays later, Kujak found brother Reggie Kujak in the end zone to give UW-Stout the 34-31 win over the Pointers. Kujak recorded a 70-yard TD to Jordan Dabney in the second quarter to give Stout a 21-7 lead, then found Reggie Kujak for a 12-yard score early in the third quarter for a 27-10 lead before the Pointers stormed back for a 31-27 lead. Kujak engineered the game-winning 80-yard drive in five plays. Throughout the season, Kujak has thrown for more than 300 yards in seven of nine games.

John Redepenning ran for two short TD plunges in the first quarter to give UW-Stout a 14-7 lead on their way to a 34-31 win over UW-Stevens Point. The TDs were the first of the senior's collegiate career.

Kyle Hoefft recorded 17 tackles, nine solo, one sack and two tackles for loss in a 34-31 win over UW-Stevens Point, Nov. 7. Hoefft has had at least 10 tackles in each of the last three games and leads the WIAC in tackles with 104 and is ranked 15th nationally, averaging 11.6 tackles per game. No Stout defensive player has recorded as many tackles as Hoefft since Ryan Pearcy finished the season at 109 in 2011. LaRue Pierce has the most tackles since 1996 with 113.

Spencer Viele picked up a win and a tie last weekend, holding off Bethel University, 4-2, Nov. 6, then getting a 0-0 shutout with Gustavus Adolphus College, Nov. 7. In the 0-0 shutout, the first 0-0 score in Stout history, Viele recorded 30 saves, including seven saves in the overtime period, and three saves during a Gustavus power play opportunity to close out the game. Viele had 22 saves against Bethel and was awarded an assist on Stout's eventual game winning goal. On the weekend, Viele had a saves percentage of .963, stopping 52 of 54 shot attempts.

Kathleen Thorn finished second at the 2015 WIAC Womens Cross Country Championship Oct. 31 at Lake Breeze Golf Course, the highest any UW-Stout female runner has placed at the conference championships. As a team, the Blue Devils finished fourth, the second highest team finish in program history. Thorn clocked a time of 22-minutes, 6.46-seconds on the 6-kilometer course to finish runner-up to UW-Eau Claire's Lucy Ramquist who recorded a time of 21:56.56. Thorn last season finished 13th at the conference meet. Stout's previous high individually finishes came at the 1998 conference meet when Katy Olsen finished third and Katie Jacobson finished fourth. In 1997, the same duo finished fourth and fifth, respectively. As a team, Stout finished third at the 1997 championship and fourth at the 1998 championship. Stout also finished fourth in 1996 and 1984. The 2015 Blue Devils scored 91 points, their lowest number in school history, surpassing the 93 points scored in 1997.

Hank Kujak had a hand in all six of UW-Stout TDs. Kujak matched a career-high when he threw for five TD passes, and ran for a seven yard run. Kujak connected for two passes to his younger brother, Reggie, and two to Brian Alvarez. Kujak connected on 23-of-48 passes for 357 yards. Trailing 54-35, Kujak connected on a 33-yard pass to Jordan Dabney, then drove Stout 48 yards in eight plays to pull Stout to within the final 54-48 with 19 seconds left.

Kujak threw for a career-high five TD passes, connecting on three first half TD passes and running 11 yards for a score as Stout led 31-0 at halftime. Kujak had a 25-yard TD pass to Kevion McDonald in the first quarter, ran for a score early in the second quarter, and threw TD passes of 14- and 11-yards to Brian Alvarez later in the second quarter. Kujak added a 12-yard pass to Alvarez in the third and a 15-yard pass to McDonald in the fourth. Kujak was 21-of-35 for 319 yards - 240 in the first half - and no interceptions. Kujak has thrown for 200 or more yards in five of six games this season.

Brian Alvarez caught a career-best 10 passes for a career-best 159 yards for a career-best three TDs in a 45-12 win over UW-Eau Claire. Alvarez had TD catches of 14-, 11- and 12-yards. Alvarez had a 54 yard reception that led to his 11 yard score in the second quarter.

Morgan Sweeney ran the third fastest time in UW-Stout history as she set a personal best by 31 seconds in placing 42nd at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational Oct. 17 at Lake Breeze Golf Course. Sweeney ran a time of 22:26.01. The time also took off nearly two minutes from her time at the same race last season.

Aleks Ilyushev v set a personal best by 16 seconds, helping him to post the fastest freshman time in UW-Stout history, as he placed 78th at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational Oct. 17 at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne. Ilyushev recorded a time of 25:42.5.

Travis Shackleton blocked a UW-La Crosse field goal attempt that Enzo Rosani returned 86 yards for a touchdown to pull UW-Stout with a score in the third quarter of an eventual 28-21 yard loss to the Eagles October 10 in La Crosse.

Anna Lano and
Linsey Thisius came back from a 7-4 deficit to go on to win a 9-8 (10-8) decision over the Pointers' Katelyn Asfeld and Kaylee Roberts, Oct. 9. In her No. 3 singles match, Thisius went three sets with Nicole Thorson, but dropped the match, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. The pair also had a strong effort in an 8-5 loss to Jennifer Graham and Sadie Spahn of UW-La Crosse, Oct. 10.
Women's golf athlete of the week
Rachel Hernandez, So, Madison, Wis. (Verona)
Rachel Hernandez finished fifth at the 2015 WIAC Women's Golf Championship, improving on her freshman finish of 13th. Hernandez scored 84-80-87 - 251, an improvement of seven strokes from her 258 last season on the same course. Hernandez finished the season with a team-low 83.4 stroke average. Hernandez had top five finishes in four of the six events the Blue Devils competed in this fall.

The Blue Devils defeated UW-River Falls, 7-2, for their first conference win since the 2008 season.

Rachel Hernandez took nine strokes off her first day score and moved up seven spots to finish third at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational Sunday at the Stevens Point Country Club. Hernandez came into the second day of competition in 10th place after posting a season-high 88. Hernandez regrouped on the second day with a 79, matching the second-lowest round of the tournament. The Blue Devils finished fifth in the 10-team field.

Kathleen Thorn finished second out of 306 finishers with a time of 22-minutes, 28-seconds at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course, Oct. 2. The time was a 33 second improvement from last year's meet.

Sydney Kasper scored two goals in a 3-1 conference win over UW-Platteville, Sept. 26, and had three shots on goal in a 2-0 non-conference win in a driving rain over St. Mary's University, Sept. 23. Against the Pioneers, Kasper scored the game's opening goal in the 20th minute, then added an insurance goal, the third goal of the game, in the 64th minute.

Jessica Ingle contributed defensively to a shutout win over St. Mary's University, 2-0, holding the Cardinals scoreless in a driving rain, Sept. 23, and holding UW-Platteville to one goal in a 3-1 win Sept. 26 in Platteville. The Platteville goal stopped a scoreless streak that totaled 358 minutes over four games.

Ashley Pratt recorded 53 total kills (2.52 k/set) and 23 total blocks (1.10 b/set) over five matches last week. Pratt recorded 11 kills in a 3-1 win over conference opponent, UW-River Falls and added a solo block and five assisted blocks. Pratt had 14 kills in a 3-1 loss to 25th ranked Williams College and 14 kills in a 3-2 loss against 11th ranked Chicago.

Payton Schultz averaged 4.14 digs/set over five matches last week, finishing with 87 total digs. Schultz recorded 27 digs in a 3-1 win over UW-River Falls.
Men's golf athlete of the week
Trey Hewuse, So, Tomah, Wis. - UW-Stout/Northwestern Mutual Athlete of the Week
Trey Hewuse finished second in two different events, at the one-day Northland College Duel, Sept. 23, and at the two-day, season-ending Midwest Region Classic, Sept. 25-26. Hewuse hit a one-over 73 at Chequamegon Bay Golf Course in Ashland as the Blue Devils easily won the three-team event. Hewuse played even-par golf both days at the Midwest Region Classic at Lawsonia Golf Club in Green Lake, hitting a 72 on both days to finish with a collegiate-best two-day mark of 144. The 144 was also a team season-best two-day score. The 72s matched his season-best and was one stroke off his collegiate-best. Hewuse finished the fall season with a team-best 75.5 stroke average. In Hewuse's final four rounds of the season, Hewuse recorded three rounds of 72 and one 73. In 11 rounds this fall, Hewuse scored in the 70s in nine of them.

Hank Kujak completed 19-of-38 passes for 212 yards and three TDs in UW-Stout's 41-33 loss to sixth ranked Wartburg College, Sept. 19. Kujak threw two 3-yard TD passes to Brian Alvarez and an 11-yard strike to brother Reggie Kujak. But it may have been Kujak's legs that sparked Stout's offense. Kujak was Stout's leading rusher, running 14 times for 97 yards, including a 47-yard jaunt on first down on a drive that eventually led to Stout's first TD. After the first three games of the season, Kujak has finished with passing yardage of 341-, 418- and 212-yards for a total of 971 yards and eight TDs.

Obgomoh blocked a punt just before the end of the first half and Isaac Tuttle scooped up the ball and scored. Stout went into the locker room trailing 14-12. Ogbomoh blocked an extra point attempt early in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Todey scored two goals over the course of three games. Todey scored her first goal of the season in a 3-2 overtime loss to Viterbo University, Sept. 16. Todey scored unassisted in the 52nd minute to tie the game at 2-2. Todey scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 double overtime win over St. Scholastica, Sept. 20. Todey took the throw-in from Addy Maher, and launched the ball 25-yards over the outstretched arms of the St. Scholastica goalie.

Haley Wentz contributed defensively to shutout wins over UW-Stevens Point (2-0) Sept. 19 and St. Scholastica (1-0, 2OT) Sept.20, but also added her first career point when she was served up the assist on the eventual game-winning goal by Jenna Kizlik over the Pointers.

Ashley Pratt recorded 37 total kills in three five-set matches last week. Pratt finished with 15 kills in a 3-2 loss to the University of Northwestern, Sept. 16, then had 14 kills against Concordia-Moorhead in a 3-2 win, Sept. 19 and eight kills in a 3-2 loss to Gustavus Adolphus, Sept. 19. Emma Pedersen grabbed two singles wins at No. 2 over the weekend, downing Bethany Lutheran's Taylor Nordhausen, 6-2, 6-0, to open the two-match day, Sept. 19, then defeated Ripon College's Courtney Olson, 6-2, 6-2. Pedersen also paired with Angela Braun to get an 8-5 win at No. 1 singles over Bethany Lutheran.

Hank Kujak threw for a career-best 418 yards, completing 22-of-44 passes with three touchdowns and one interception in a 52-42 win at Loras College, Sept. 12. Of the 22 completions, 10 passes were for more than 20 yards (25, 36, 49, 21td, 45, 25td, 20, 23, 25, 29). Kujak engineered scoring drives in every quarter, including two scoring drives in the final three minutes of the first half. Kujak also scored on a 1-yard run after his 45-yard pass to Brian Alvarez set up the plunge on the next play. Kujak was coming off a season-opening game where he threw for 341 yards against nationally ranked Bethel. His 418 passing yards against Loras was the most by a Stout quarterback in a single game since 1998.

Enzo Rosani recorded two interceptions, forced one fumble and recorded 12 tackles, seven solo, in UW-Stout's 52-42 win over Loras College, Sept. 12. Rosani had a 28-yard interception late in the in the first half, then intercepted his second pass of the game late in the fourth quarter on Loras' final drive of the game with 30 seconds remaining. Rosani also had a forced fumble in the third period, a fumble that Loras recovered.
Kevin Houts, DL, 6-1, 240, Sr, Bloomington, Minn. (Kennedy)
Kevin Houts was credited with four tackles, two solo, one sack, two tackles for loss and one pass breakup. The senior defensive lineman did not allow positive yardage on any of his four tackles, either stopping the runner at the line of scrimmage or behind it in a 52-42 win over Loras College, Sept. 12.

Isaac Tuttle made the most of his four kickoff returns, averaging 30.8 yards on the returns with runs of 55-, 10, 31- and 18-yards. Tuttle also had one special teams tackle, stopping a Loras College kick returner on the Loras 20-yard line in a 52-42 win in Dubuque, Iowa, Sept. 12.

The Blue Devils defeated the University of St. Thomas, 3-1. Throughout the two games, Kizlik proved to be excellent at winning 50/50 during both games and helping the Blue Devils to control the game.

Paige Meyer, GK, 5-7, Sr, Beldenville, Wis. (River Falls) - WIAC Athlete of the Week
Paige Meyer was solid in two wins last week, recording four saves in a 1-0 win over St. Catherine, Sept. 8, then recorded eight saves in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas, Sept. 12, Stout's first ever win over the Tommies. According to coach Ryan Raufus, Meyer "made key reactionary saves and was equally good against crosses."

Maddie Phyle, S, 5-3, So, Rosemount, Minn.
Over five matches last week,
Maddie Phyle averaged 5.55 assists per set in a two-setter system. Phyle had 22 assists in a 3-1 loss to Augsburg, Sept. 9, 28 in a 3-2 win over Loras College, 13 in a 3-0 win over Wheaton, 24 in a 3-1 loss to Wartburg and a 25 in a 3-1 win over St. Mary's University. Phyle also finished with four kills, six service aces and 31 digs over the five matches.
Volleyball defensive player of the week
Kennedy Strain, MH/RS, 6-0, Fr, Elk River, Minn.
Kennedy Strain had a solid week at the net, recording six solo blocks and 15 block assists as UW-Stout went 3-2 on the week. Playing in all 18 sets, Strain averaged 1.17 blocks per set, the most of any Stout player. Offensively, she averaged 2.17 kills and had two service aces.

Emma Pedersen picked up a win over Wartburg College after splitting the first two sets, dropping the first set, 6-3, but coming back to win the second set, 6-4. Pedersen fell behind, 9-5, in the tie-breaker, but battled back for an 11-9 win to take the match.

Jayde Curley scored UW-Stout's lowest at the O'Brien National Invitational Sept. 13-14 at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Ind.. Curley shot a 79 on the first day and an 83 on the second day to finish with a 162.
Women's cross country runner of the week
Kathleen Thorn, Sr, West Salem, Wis. - WIAC Athlete of the Week
Kathleen Thorn finished 2nd at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational Sept. 11 behind last year's fourth place national finisher. Thorn completed the 6-kilometer course with a time of 22-minutes, 16-seconds, her second-fastest career time.

In his first game as a Blue Devil,
Josh Johnson had an interception and a fumble recovery, and led the team in tackles with 10, eight solo. Johnson recovered a fumble on first down in the second quarter, recorded a tackle for a loss early in the third quarter where on the next play Stout intercepted the ball, and recorded his own interception midway through the third period. The Blue Devils scored a field goal off the interception.
Football special teams player of the week

Taylor Pahl ran his streak of PATs to 19 by connecting on both extra point attempts and made both field goal attempts, hitting field goals of 25- and 38-yards. Pahl's two third quarter field goals pulled Stout to within 14-13 of 20th ranked Bethel University, but the Blue Devils went on to a 35-20 loss.

Nikki Sedivy spearheaded a defensive effort that allowed only one goal over 220 minutes of playing time. UW-Stout allowed only 10 total shots on goal over two games, five in a 0-0 season-opening tie with Macalester College, Sept. 1, and four in a 1-1 tie with the College of St. Benedict, Sept. 5.

Ashley Pratt t was named to the Pacific Coast Classic all-tournament team after collecting double-digit kills in all four matches, Sept. 4-5. Pratt recorded 16 kills in a 3-2 win over New York University, 14 in a 3-0 win over Occidental, 13 in a 3-1 win over Whittier and 13 in a 3-1 loss to the University of La Verne. In two matches to open the season, Sept. 1, Pratt recorded 14 kills in a 3-2 win over Carleton College and nine kills, playing in two sets, in a 3-0 win over Crown College. After six matches, Ashley Pratt is averaging 3.43 kills per set. Over the six matches, Pratt has collected 26 total blocks, including five solo.

Carly Troudt was named to the Pacific Coast Classic all-tournament team after collecting double digit digs in three of four matches, finishing the two-day tournament with 57 digs. Troudt also had four assisted blocks in the tournament. On the week over the first six matches where Stout went 5-1, Troudt finished with 83 digs - including 26 in the season opener against Carleton - seven assisted blocks and 58 kills, averaging 2.52 kills per set.

Anna Lano and freshman
Linsey Thisius kicked off the season with a pari of wins, defeating the University of Dubuque's Naomi Bokela/Maria Scott, 8-4, and an 8-4 win over Lawrence's Annie Haricum/Lindsey Holsom. Thisium also won her first collegiate singles match, downing Dubuque's Marissa Joers, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 3 singles in her only singles match of the day. Stout defeated Dubuque, 7-2, but lost 6-3 to Lawrence.
Women's golf athlete of the week
Rachel Hernandez, So, Madison, Wis. (Verona)
Rachel Hernandez turned in a career-best 78 in the second round of the UW-Oshkosh Invitational Sept. 6 to move up four spots and finish third at the Oshkosh Country Club. Combined with a first round 84, Hernandez finished with a 163, five strokes off the pace. The 78 was the third best score of the tournament and the second best score of the day. As a team, Stout placed fourth of 10 teams.
Men's golf athlete of the week
Josh Berres, So, Marshfield, Wis.
Showing a big improvement from his freshman season,
Josh Berres finished 27th at the Edgewood Invitational, hitting 78 on the first day, then cutting off three strokes on the second for a 75 to finish with a 153. Both the 78 and the 75 crushed his previous collegiate-best scores of 84.
