MENOMONIE — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday at Nelson Field.

Asher Vogel scored the game's lone goal in the 38th minute, with Patrick Zich and Logan Bergien providing assists. The goal, Vogel's first of the season, came at the 37:45 mark and gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Stout controlled much of the first half, outshooting Concordia Wisconsin 7-3. The Blue Devils created several scoring opportunities before breaking through late in the half.

The Falcons were reduced to 10 players late in the first half when Junior Omary received his second yellow in the 42nd minute.

Concordia Wisconsin applied pressure in the second half, outshooting Stout 9-2, but the Blue Devils' defense held firm. Eddie Puglisi made five saves, including two in the second half, to record his second shutout of the season.

Stout finished with nine shots, including four on goal, while Concordia Wisconsin recorded 12 shots and five shots on goal. 

With the win, Stout improves to 3-3-1 on the season and will host Saint Mary's University (Minn.) on Monday, Sept. 28, at 4 p.m. at Nelson Field
