Blue Devils Draw with Luther 1-1

DECORAH, Iowa — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic women's soccer team played Luther to a 1-1 tie Wednesday. Kayla White scored in the 80th minute to open the scoring late for the Blue Devils.
 
Stout generated the early chances, with Tessa Pagel's shot in the second minute saved by Rylie Bucklin, before Bella Mickey and Pagel added attempts and the Blue Devils earned a corner in the 17th minute. Luther put its first shot on goal in the 21st minute, but Kristen Silenzi saved Suzett Hinds Cruz's attempt to keep the half scoreless. The Blue Devils followed with another stretch of pressure, including saved shots by White and Chloe Butalla, two corner kicks, and a blocked Sami Moseng shot between the 26th and 28th minutes. Kasey Stauner and Moseng added late attempts for Stout, but the first half ended scoreless.

Stout generated pressure from the 54th to 59th minutes, with Pagel taking a shot wide, Alli LaVick putting two attempts on goal, and a corner kick in between. Luther answered with a stretch of seven attacking actions from the 67th to 79th minutes, including a shot off the woodwork and Silenzi's save on Sofia Biedermann's attempt. White put UW-Stout ahead 1-0 in the 80th minute. Luther tied it 1-1 in the 86th minute on Samantha McCorkle's goal, and the match finished even at 1-1.

Stout is 2-2-2 overall and will travel to Morris, Minnesota, to face the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Cougar Field.
