Blue Devils Blank Morris 4-0

MORRIS, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic women's soccer team defeated the University of Minnesota Morris 4-0 on Saturday at Cougar Field. The Blue Devils dominated with a 38-2 shot advantage, putting 16 attempts on goal while allowing just one shot on frame.
 
Stout generated early pressure in the first half. Bella Mickey took three shots in the opening eight minutes before Chloe Butalla's attempt was saved in the 13th minute. Just 30 seconds later, Sydney Stauner opened the scoring off an assist from Lizzy Dallas, giving UW-Stout a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils continued their attack with a corner kick and five shots between the 18th and 25th minutes, and Tia Rubow scored off a Mia Brunelli assist in the 30th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. Minn.-Morris managed its lone shot of the half in the 42nd minute, while Stout applied late pressure with a Claire Gregory shot on goal and three corner kicks in the final three minutes, maintaining a 2-0 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, UW-Stout maintained control, taking six shots and earning two corner kicks in the first 11 minutes. Butalla scored in the 57th minute, pushing the lead to 3-0. The Blue Devils kept up the pressure with corners in the 58th and 63rd minutes and shots from Kayla White, Rubow, and Hannah Bolte. Julia Fitt scored in the 69th minute, making it 4-0. Katie Peterson, Rubow, Baily Earnest-Miller, and Fitt added chances, while Kristen Silenzi saved a shot by Madysen Johnson in the 80th minute. Stout sealed the 4-0 victory with late attempts from Rylee Wahlberg and Sara Sodemann.

The Blue Devils improve to 3-2-2 and will travel to Northfield, Minn., to face St. Olaf College on Monday, Sept. 21, at 3:30 p.m. at Rolf Mellby Field.
