MENOMONIE — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic women's soccer team fell to the College of Saint Benedict 1-0 on a late goal Saturday at Nelson Field.

Saint Benedict recorded the first shot when Eva Gower missed left in the 16th minute, but Stout responded with an Alli LaVick shot and corner kicks in the 18th and 22nd minutes. Emily Schaupp sent a shot over the top in the 27th minute during a Blue Devils stretch that included two shots and two corners. The middle of the half tightened with five fouls called from the 26th to 36th minutes, while Saint Benedict added attempts from Laila Totushek, Avery Soli, and Paige Escamilla, but neither side scored before halftime.

In the second half, Saint Benedict generated the first chances, with Avery Soli missing high in the 48th minute and Kristen Silenzi saving Tatum Janezich's shot in the 52nd minute. Stout came back with attempts from Tessa Pagel and Hannah Bolte and earned a corner kick by the 59th minute. Silenzi kept the match scoreless with another save on Soli during a Saint Benedict stretch that also included shots by Gabby Fernholz and a corner. The half tightened through a physical stretch, and Sami Moseng put a shot on frame for Stout in the 68th minute before Anna Mollenhauer made the save. Eva Gower tested Silenzi in the 80th minute and later scored off a Veronica Warren assist in the 84th minute, giving Saint Benedict the 1-0 lead it carried to the final whistle.

Silenzi's goalless streak ended at 353:34 minutes and finished with three saves. LaVick led the Blue Devils with two shots. Moseng put her lone shot on goal.

Stout is 2-1-1 overall and will the host the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Monday, Sept. 14, at Nelson Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
