Stout Softball Secures Milestone Sweep Over UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stout softball team made program history Wednesday afternoon, sweeping UW-Whitewater for the first time ever with a 5-1 and 7-3 doubleheader victory at van Steenderen Softball Complex.

The Blue Devils (17-13, 3-3 WIAC) used a combination of timely hitting and strong pitching performances to take down the Warhawks in both games, securing a milestone conference sweep.

In game one, UW-Stout jumped out early and never looked back in a 5-1 win. Donna D'Addabbo set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4, while Rayni Bresnahan, Elly Holden, Sarah Wilkins, and Abbey Dusterhoft each drove in runs.

Stout plated three runs in the opening inning and added insurance in the seventh. In the circle, Sarah Wilkins was dominant, tossing a complete game and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out eight to earn her seventh win of the season.

The momentum carried into game two, where the Blue Devils secured the sweep with a 7-3 victory. Stout again struck early, scoring three runs in the first inning before adding to the lead late.

Payton Dolecki led the offense with three hits and two runs scored, while Elly Holden delivered the biggest swing of the day with a two-run home run and finished with four RBIs. Sarah Wilkins also went deep, adding a solo home run as part of a multi-hit effort.

Olivia Ott earned the win in the circle, working four innings, while Wilkins returned to close the door and pick up the save as Stout limited Whitewater to three runs—all unearned.

With the sweep, the Blue Devils not only picked up two key WIAC wins but also marked a historic achievement for the program against one of the conference's perennial powers.

UW-Stout will look to carry the momentum into the weekend as they travel to take on No. 16 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.
