CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The UW-Stout women's lacrosse team used a dominant opening quarter to cruise to a 25–2 non-conference victory over Mount Mercy Friday afternoon at Hadzic Field.
The Blue Devils (2–1) wasted little time taking control, scoring 11 goals in the opening quarter and never looking back. Stout led 16–1 at halftime and continued to add to the margin in the second half, outshooting the Mustangs 39–9 in the contest.
Midfielder
Mai Nou Vang paced the Stout offense with a game-high 10 points, scoring four goals and adding six assists, while also controlling the draw with nine draw controls.
Megan Palmer added seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) and
Brinley Tonn contributed three goals and two assists.
Several Blue Devils added multi-goal performances as
Maddy Nuttall finished with two goals and an assist,
Ava Loveland scored two goals, and
Riley Schulte added two goals.

Defensively, Stout controlled possession throughout the game, holding Mount Mercy to just five shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Anna Hron earned the win in her first career start, making three saves.
The Blue Devils also controlled the draw circle, finishing with 18 draw controls, and forced 19 Mount Mercy turnovers.
UW-Stout returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, March 7 when they travel to Davenport, Iowa for an 11 a.m. contest with Saint Ambrose.
