MENOMONIE - The University of Wisconsin-Stout women's lacrosse team dropped its WIAC opener 18-10 to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday evening at Nelson Field.

The Blugolds (1-2 overall, 1-0 WIAC) used a seven goal stretch to turn a 6-5 deficit to a 12-6 lead that they never relinquished.
UW-Eau Claire outshot UW-Stout (3-2 Overall, 0-1 WIAC) 50-23 (36-16 on goal). Eau Claire jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period. Stout responded with a strong second quarter, tying the game at 6-6 with three straight power-play goals (
Brinley Tonn,
Mai Nou Vang,
Megan Palmer). However, the Blugolds closed the half with three unanswered tallies—including two power-play markers—to take a 9-6 halftime edge.
Stout was led offensively by
Mai Nou Vang, who scored four goals and added an assist to pace the Blue Devils.
Riley Schulte added two goals, while
Luci Fitzgerald,
Megan Palmer,
Brinley Tonn, and
Lauren Busho each scored once. Fitzgerald and Palmer each contributed one helper.

Emilia Bullock made 18 saves on 50 shots faced
Notes: UW-Stout committed 35 turnovers compared to Eau Claire's 18, and the Blugolds held a 40-17 edge in ground balls.

Stout will be back in action on Friday, March 13 when they travel to Mequon, Wis. to face Concordia (Wis.) at 3 p.m.
