Blue Devils Fall 3-0 at No. 15 UW-La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Stout women's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 15 UW-La Crosse on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

The Blue Devils (4-8-4, 0-4-0 WIAC) absorbed early pressure but generated the first shot on goal when Alli LaVick forced a save from La Crosse goalkeeper Summer Nicolai at 3:12. Stout goalkeeper Kristen Silenzi answered with an early stop on Sera Speltz at 2:26 and later denied Catherine Arnold amid a stretch that featured three La Crosse corner kicks and five shots between 7:53 and 16:39.

La Crosse (15-0-0, 4-0-0) broke through at 19:48 when Aubree Caya finished a feed from Kate Heiderscheit for a 1-0 lead. Silenzi continued to stand tall with saves on Allison Steeno and Speltz, while Stout created later first-half chances from Kayla White (saved at 29:05) and Tessa Pagel. The Eagles added two more goals before the break—Katelyn Studebaker off a Grace Williams assist at 37:39 and Morgan Fitt from Gianna Zamborini at 41:59—to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

UW-La Crosse maintained control early in the second half, earning a corner and putting four shots on goal between 46:48 and 56:44. Silenzi made saves on Steeno, Macy Evans, Caya and Ella Opie during that stretch, and Amaya Thesing rattled the crossbar. Stout answered with a shot on goal from LaVick at 50:30 and later attempts from Emma Balsley, Bella Mickey and White. Silenzi kept the Eagles off the board the rest of the way, stopping late efforts from Williams, Claire Rankin and Peyton Saltijeral.

Stout was outshot 34-7 overall (14-3 on goal) but held La Crosse scoreless after intermission thanks to Silenzi's 11 saves (four in the first half, seven in the second). LaVick led the Blue Devils with two shots, both on target, while White also recorded two attempts.

Stout travels to River Falls, Wis., to face UW-River Falls on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
