WHITEWATER, Wis. – The UW-Stout men's basketball team battled on the road Saturday afternoon, but could not overcome a strong second half by UW-Whitewater, falling 72–54 at the Williams Center.
The Blue Devils kept things competitive early, trailing just 34–27 at halftime after limiting the Warhawks to 35 percent shooting in the opening period. UW-Stout worked inside for much of the first half and stayed within striking distance behind balanced scoring and active defensive play.
Whitewater began to pull away early in the second half, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and transition baskets to extend its lead. The Warhawks outscored Stout 38–27 after the break and used a 14–2 run midway through the half to create separation.
AJ Uttech led the Blue Devils with 15 points, adding three assists, while Collin Vick chipped in nine points and four rebounds. Jackson Wilhelmson provided a spark off the bench, knocking down two three-pointers for six points in limited action. UW-Stout finished with 30 bench points but struggled to find consistent shooting rhythm down the stretch.
The Blue Devils were unable to close the gap late as Whitewater continued to control the paint and convert from the free-throw line to secure the conference victory.
