MENOMONIE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin–Stout men's basketball team fell 72–50 to Wisconsin–La Crosse on Wednesday night at Johnson Fieldhouse in a WIAC matchup that swung in the second half.
The Blue Devils went punch-for-punch with the Eagles through the opening 20 minutes and into the early stages of the second half. UW-Stout trailed by just seven at the break and briefly took a 37–35 lead early in the second half before momentum shifted.
One of the highlights of the night came in the first half when Aidan Shore energized the home crowd with a powerful put-back dunk over an Eagles defender. Shore's athletic finish was part of a strong interior effort as Stout consistently battled inside.
Collin Vick filled the stat sheet with a solid all-around performance, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Mason Stoik was efficient from the floor, scoring 10 points on limited attempts, but UW-Stout struggled to find a rhythm from beyond the arc and rarely got to the free throw line, only shooting four free throws in the entire game.
The turning point came midway through the second half when Wisconsin–La Crosse went on a decisive 17–3 run, stretching a two-point game into a double-digit deficit. The Eagles capitalized on turnovers and knocked down timely shots to create separation, and the Blue Devils were unable to respond as La Crosse pulled away down the stretch.
