Women's Soccer Secures 1-0 Shutout Victory Over UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Stout women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 over UW-Superior at SCCU Stadium to improve to 2-1-1. The Blue Devils controlled the action with a 19-10 edge in shots and eight corners to none, but had to wait until the second half to break through, thanks to a goal from Kayla White and a stout defensive effort anchored by goalkeeper Kristen Silenzi.

Stout dominated possession and chances from the outset but couldn't find the net in a scoreless first half. Silenzi (2-1-1) was sharp in net, making three saves in the opening frame to preserve the clean sheet, including a key stop on a shot from Kamryn Hill early on.

The breakthrough came at the 51:56 mark in the second half. Midfielder Bella Mickey delivered a precise assist to Kayla White, who fired home her third goal of the season for the game-winner. White, who led Stout with four shots (two on target. From there, Stout poured on the pressure, firing 13 shots in the half (four on goal) and earning five corners, but Superior's Quinn Clark (0-3-0) made three saves to keep it close.

The Blue Devils' defense held firm, limiting Superior to just four shots after halftime and zero corners for the match. Sami Moseng and Hannah Hagman anchored the backline with 90 minutes each, while midfielder Kasey Stauner added four shots (one on target) in 64 minutes of action. Anna Odisho was a constant threat with five shots (two on), and Alli LaVick contributed a shot on goal in 90 minutes up top.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Verona, Wis. to face Edgewood University. Kick-off from Reddan Park is set for 6 p.m.
