MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout men's soccer team settled for a 2-2 draw against Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field, improving to 1-0-2 on the season in a physical matchup that featured eight yellow cards. Despite controlling possession at 55% and outshooting the Cobbers 15-10, the Blue Devils couldn't hold a late lead, allowing the tying goal with seven seconds left to play.
Stout goalkeeper
Lucas Biederman (0-0-1) made four saves to keep the draw intact, matching the performance of Concordia's Jack Solheid (0-1-2), who stopped five shots. The Blue Devils generated seven shots on target compared to the Cobbers' six.
The scoring opened in the 23rd minute when Concordia struck first. Dylan Sipe fed a through ball to Liam Weis, who finished for his first goal of the season at the 22:42 mark. The Blue Devils responded quickly, leveling the score just over seven minutes later. Midfielder
Marwan Kaddah, who finished with two assists, set up
Roberto Perez for his first goal at 30:17.
The teams traded chances heading into the break, with Stout holding a 6-4 edge in shots and the Cobbers leading 5-1 in corners. A yellow card to Concordia's Sekou Gogue at 15:47 set an early tone of intensity, followed by another to Liam Weis at 33:44.
The second half saw Stout seize momentum. After a scoreless stretch, Kaddah again played the hero, assisting defender
Kevin Lowery on a header from a corner—his first career goal—for a 2-1 lead at 65:31. The Blue Devils looked poised to secure the win, outshooting Concordia 9-6 in the frame and adding three more corners.
However, drama unfolded in the dying moments. Concordia earned a yellow to Weis, his second at60:49. In the 89:53 minute, Sipe scored on a corner kick to deny Stout the victory.
