The UW-Stout women's tennis team faced a challenging road trip this past weekend, opening with a WIAC matchup at UW-Oshkosh on Friday before heading to Appleton on Saturday for matches against Lawrence University and Ripon College.
On Friday, the Blue Devils dropped a 7-0 decision to UW-Oshkosh. The highlight came in doubles at the No. 2 spot, where Aspen Johnson and Ashlyn Dellemann combined for a 6-4 win
Saturday began in Appleton against Lawrence University. Stout earned a victory at No. 3 doubles as Lexie Stein and freshman Mattie Schilling teamed up for a 6-2 win. This marked Schilling's first collegiate win. In singles, Gretchen Murphy picked up a straight-sets victory at the No. 5 spot, but the Vikings claimed the match by a 6-1 score. Dellemann and Stein both lost and tight 3-set matches, with Leuzinger narrowly dropping her singles match as well.
The Blue Devils bounced back in the afternoon with a commanding 7-0 sweep of Ripon College. Stout won all three doubles flights and swept through singles behind strong play from Prajna Hosamane, Johnson, Dellemann, Lindsay Leuzinger, Murphy, and Stein.
The Blue Devils (3-7) return home for a critical WIAC matchup against UW-River Falls on Saturday, October 4 at 2 p.m. The match will be played at the UW-Stout Tennis Courts.
