MENOMONIE – The University of Wisconsin-Stout women's soccer team dominated from start to finish, shutting out the University of Minnesota Morris 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field. Goals from
Anna Odisho and
Emma Balsley powered the Blue Devils to victory.
Stout (3-2-1) controlled the pace early, outshooting Morris (1-5-1) 11-1 in the first half while holding 65% possession. The Blue Devils broke through in the 37th minute when Odisho netted her first goal of the season, assisted by
Mckenna Long, to give Stout a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw more of the same, with Stout generating 12 shots and earning seven corner kicks. Balsley extended the lead in the 75th minute with an unassisted strike, her first of the year, sealing the shutout.
Stout's attack was relentless, finishing with a 23-1 edge in shots and 7-0 in shots on goal.
Ava Tomas led the way with five shots, followed by Odisho with four and three each from
Kayla White,
Lindsey Redepenning,
Emma Balsley, and
Berklee Reelfs. Goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Krengel earned the win with a clean sheet, benefiting from a stout backline that limited Morris to just one blocked shot all game.
Stout will host Bethel University tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 14 with a 5 p.m. kick-off at Nelson Field.
