MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stout women's soccer team made it a memorable Senior Day weekend, picking up their second straight victory with a 2-1 win over Bethel University on Sunday afternoon at Nelson Field.
Anna Odisho got the Blue Devils rolling late in the first half, scoring in the 40th minute off an assist from Mckenna Long to put Stout up 1-0 at the break. Kayla White doubled the lead in the 58th minute with a strike that gave the Blue Devils valuable breathing room.
Bethel answered just six minutes later to cut the deficit in half, but the Stout defense held strong the rest of the way. In the closing seconds, goalkeeper Kaitlyn Krengel came up with a diving stop on a Bethel shot to preserve the win and ignite the Blue Devil celebration. Krengel finished the match with two saves in net.
Stout outshot Bethel 13-7 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
With the victory, UW-Stout improves to 4-2-1 overall and extends their winning streak to two games.
