MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout Blue Devils softball team split a thrilling Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) doubleheader against UW-Stevens Point at Alumni Field, falling 3-1 in the opener but rallying for a dramatic 7-6 walk-off victory in the second game. The split moves Stout's record to 13-21 overall and 4-8 in WIAC play, while Stevens Point stands at 27-11 overall and 6-8 in conference action.
Game 1: UW-Stevens Point 3, UW-Stout 1
In the first game, UW-Stevens Point scored twice in the sixth inning to secure a 3-1 victory. The Pointers struck in the fourth on an RBI groundout. They added two more in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.
UW-Stout responded in the sixth inning when Payton Dolecki doubled, advanced to third, and scored on an RBI single by Stephanie Kuhn, cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, the Blue Devils could not muster additional runs, leaving the bases loaded.
Anna Blanford went seven innings, scattering seven hits, giving up three runs and striking out nine.
Game 2: UW-Stout 7, UW-Stevens Point 6
The second game was a back-and-forth affair, with UW-Stout clinching a 7-6 walk-off win in the seventh inning. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings, on RBI hits from Rayni Bresnahan, Donna D'Addabbo and Stephaie Kuhn.
Stevens Point fought back, scoring three in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.
Stout answered in the bottom half, tying the game at 5-5 when Alexa Anderson scored on a wild pitch and a D'Addabbo RBI single. Kuhn's RBI single then gave Stout a 6-5 lead. In the seventh, A Stevens Point double knotted the score at 6-6.
In the bottom of the seventh, Stout loaded the bases with a double from Liz Rohl and walks to Anderson, and Dolecki. D'Addabbo drew a walk-off walk, scoring Anderson for the 7-6 victory.
Dolecki's perfect 4-for-4 day, including three runs and a stolen base, paced Stout. D'Addabbo went 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Kuhn added two RBI on three hits. A. Blanford earned the win for Stout, pitching 6.1 innings.

The Blue Devils will close out the 2025 regular season tomorrow, Sunday, May 4 with a doubleheader against UW-Whiotewater. First-pitch from Alumi Field is set for 12 p.m.
