PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - the UW-Stout Blue Devils softball team (10-16, 1-3) dropped both games of a doubleheader against UW-Platteville (22-8, 5-1) Saturday afternoon. Falling 11-5 and 5-4.
Game 1: UW-Platteville 11, UW-Stout 5
Stout started strong with two runs in the first inning, scoring off on an error and an RBI single by
Rayni Bresnahan. Despite adding runs in the fourth and fifth, including a two-RBI double by
Liz Rohl, Stout couldn't keep pace. Platteville surged with five runs in both the third and fourth innings. Stout's 10 hits were overshadowed by Platteville's 15.
Game 2: UW-Platteville 5, UW-Stout 4
Stout took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, scoring on a bases loaded walk, a wild pitch and an RBI single by
Donna D'Addabbo. Platteville chipped away, scoring in the second and fourth, but Stout held a 4-2 lead in the seventh after
Stephanie Kuhn's RBI double. However, Platteville rallied in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game with a double from Danielle Johnson and winning on an RBI single by Madalyn Dietz. Stout's eight hits were outdone by Platteville's 11, with pitcher
Anna Blanford taking the loss despite a solid effort.
Looking Ahead
UW-Stout will look to rebound when they host UW-Eau Claire on Tuesday, April 22. First pitch from Alumni Field is set for 4 p.m.
