MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout women's flag football team hosted a jamboree Saturday afternoon at Don and Nona Williams Stadium. The Blue Devils split four games, beating Augustana University (S.D.) and Augsburg University, and falling to Bethel University and Concordia Moorhead.
Game 1: Bethel 35, Stout 26
Stout dropped the opener 35-26 to Bethel University. Amanda Geisen Scored early for the Blue Devils to give Stout a 6-0 lead on their first possession. Bethel took the lead halfway through first on a touchdown and two-point conversion. On the very next play
Allison Letcher found Sam Schaffer for a 45-yard touchdown,
Anna Mutch converted the two-point play and Stout lead 14-8. Bethel answered with a touchdown on their next drive but couldn't convert the two-point try and the game was tied at 14 with three minutes left before halftime. Stout scored on a four-play drive when Letcher found Geisen for a 14-yard touchdown to take a 20-14 lead. Bethel would score just before half to take a 22-20 halftime lead. Stout would stop Bethel just before midfield on the Royals first drive of the second half, and three plays later
Halle Maki-Waller found
Anna Mutch for a 7-yard touchdown to give Stout a 26-22 lead. Bethel would again answer with a long catch and run to regain the lead at 28-26. After forcing two Blue Devil punts, Bethel would score a long touchdown to extend the lead to 35-26. Stout would turn the ball over on downs and Bethel would run out the clock.
Game 2: Stout 33, Augustana 32
In a thrilling flag football matchup Stout edged out Augustana University (S.D.) with a close 36-32 victory. The game was a high-scoring affair, with both teams showcasing potent offenses. UW-Stout took an early lead, scoring 14 points in the first half to Augustana's 7. The second quarter saw an explosive exchange, Augistana pulled within three at 29-26, But Stout extended the lead on a
Anna Mutch 37-yard touchdown catch. Key plays included touchdown passes from Stout's
Allison Letcher and
Halle Maki-Waller, while Augustana's B. Strum threw for five touchdowns.
Game 3: Concordia Moorhead 14, Stout 8
Concordia College (Minn.) edged out Wis.-Stout in a tightly contested flag football game, winning 14-6. Concordia took control early, scoring 8 points in the first half with a 35-yard rushing touchdown followed by a successful 2-point conversion. UW-Stout struggled to respond, failing to score in the first half despite multiple drives. In the second half Concordia extended their lead with a 7-yard touchdown pass, though the 2-point attempt failed, making it 14-0. Wis.-Stout finally answered late in the second quarter with a 35-yard touchdown pass from
Halle Maki-Waller to
Kate Holst, but their 1-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 14-6.
Game 4: Stout 33, Augsburg 8
Stout dominated Augsburg University securing a decisive 33-8 victory. The Blue Devils surged ahead early, racking up 21 points in the first half while shutting out the Auggies. UW-Stout's offense, led by
Allison Letcher, was relentless, with key touchdown passes to
Anna Odisho (9 yards) and
Anna Mutch (21 yards), alongside a 36-yard strike to
Sam Schaeffer in the second half. Augsburg struggled to find rhythm, Stout's defense was stifling, intercepting three passes, including two by
Amanda Giesen.
