UW-Stout Baseball Drops Doubleheader to Concordia Wisconsin and Carroll

PENSACOLA, Fla. – March 16, 2025 – The UW-Stout baseball team faced a tough pair of opponents in a doubleheader at Blue Wahoos Stadium, falling to Concordia University Wisconsin in game one, 12-1, and narrowly dropping a high-scoring battle to Carroll University in game two, 14-12.


Game One: Concordia Wisconsin 12, UW-Stout 1

Concordia Wisconsin jumped out to an early lead with a five-run first inning and never looked back. The Blue Devils managed to put up one run in the third, but a seven-run outburst by the Falcons in the fourth sealed the win.

Key Performers:

  • Billy Jones led the Blue Devils with a double and a run scored.

  • Justin Sedin contributed two hits, including a double.

  • Drew Ries added two hits in three at-bats.

  • Austin Miller (0-2) took the loss, surrendering 11 earned runs on 12 hits over 3.2 innings pitched.


Game Two: Carroll 14, UW-Stout 12

In a game filled with offensive fireworks, UW-Stout and Carroll traded blows, but a three-run eighth inning proved to be the difference as the Pioneers edged the Blue Devils.

Key Performers:

  • Billy Jones led the offense with a 4-for-6 performance, including three RBIs and a stolen base.

  • Kevin Zanin recorded three hits, two RBIs, and a triple.

  • Leyten Bowers went 4-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.

  • Justin Sedin blasted a three-run homer in the sixth inning, finishing with four RBIs.

  • Colin Hageman hit a two-run homer in the second inning.

Stout put up a seven-run sixth inning to take an 11-6 lead, but Carroll responded with five runs in the bottom half and three more in the eighth to reclaim the lead. Reliever Drew Buss (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs over two innings.


Game Notes:

  • UW-Stout recorded a season-high 20 hits in game two.

  • The Blue Devils hit two home runs in game two, marking their first multi-homer game of the season.

  • Stout's offense was balanced, with seven players recording multiple hits in game two.

  • The Blue Devils struggled on the mound, allowing 26 total runs across both games.

The Blue Devils will remain in Florida for another doubleheader on Monday, March 18. UW-Stout will take on LeTourneau University (Texas) in the first game scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by a matchup against Edgewood College.
