MENOMONIE, Wis. (February 19, 2025) – The UW-Stout Blue Devils were unable to keep up with UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday night, falling 85-57 at Johnson Fieldhouse. The visiting Pointers shot nearly 60% from the field and pulled away early, leaving Stout struggling to close the gap.
The Pointers (17-7, 7-6 WIAC) came out hot, shooting 62.9% in the first half and building a 50-27 halftime lead. Malik Abdul-Wahid led the charge for Stevens Point with 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting, while Josiah Butler added 15 points and three assists. The Blue Devils (8-16, 4-9 WIAC) attempted to fight back in the second half but were unable to make up the deficit.
Mason Stoik led UW-Stout with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Brenden Weis chipped in 11 points, while Jacob Walczak added 10. Stout struggled from deep, shooting just 27.3% (6-of-22) from beyond the arc, while Stevens Point converted 11-of-16 (68.8%) of their attempts.
Defensive miscues and turnovers plagued the Blue Devils, as they surrendered 26 points off turnovers while managing only 12 themselves. The Pointers also won the rebounding battle, holding a 33-31 edge.
