UW-Stout Women's Basketball Secures 67-55 Victory Over UW-Platteville

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stout Blue Devils continued their strong season with a convincing 67-55 win over UW-Platteville on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Fieldhouse. With the victory, Stout improves to 18-5 overall and 9-3 in the WIAC.

Stout set the tone early, building an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the contest. The Blue Devils' defensive pressure forced 16 turnovers, leading to 23 points off those miscues. The team's defensive intensity was evident from the start, as they limited Platteville to just 9 first-quarter points while capitalizing on offensive opportunities to gain an early advantage.

Anna Mutch and Lexi Wagner led the way offensively, each contributing 17 points. Mutch showcased her efficiency, shooting 7-of-13 from the field, while Wagner knocked down four three-pointers. Raegan Sorensen added a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, further solidifying Stout's dominance on the boards. Sorensen also made an impact defensively, recording four steals and a chase-down block in the second half to stifle Platteville's offensive attempts.

Bench production was another factor in the Blue Devils' victory, as they outscored Platteville's reserves 8-3, demonstrating the team's depth and ability to maintain a high level of play throughout the game. Additionally, Stout controlled the pace of play with a disciplined offensive approach, shooting 39.2 percent from the field and making crucial free throws in the closing minutes to secure the win.

The Blue Devils held Platteville to just 30.6 percent shooting from the field and limited the Pioneers to 20 percent from beyond the arc. Despite a late push from Platteville in the fourth quarter, Stout's composure at the free-throw line helped seal the victory, as they went 22-of-29 from the stripe.
