PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (November 8, 2025) The UW-Stout football team nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback but came up just short, falling 24-23 to UW-Platteville at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on a rainy afternoon.
Trailing 24-10 early in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils rallied behind senior quarterback
Adam Moen, who scored three rushing touchdowns, including a two-yard run with 42 seconds remaining to bring Stout within one. However, the 2-point conversion attempt was no good. Stout recovered the onside kick and the potential game-winning 43-yard field goal attempt as time expired sailed wide, sealing the narrow Pioneer victory.
Moen led the Blue Devils' offense, accounting for 317 total yards—passing for 235 yards (22-for-42) and rushing for 82 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries. Junior
Davonte Evans was Moen's top target, catching nine passes for 107 yards, while
Chase Hughes added 83 total yards (44 rushing, 39 receiving).
Stout's defense kept the game close throughout, forcing one turnover when senior linebacker
Gabe Kramer intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter, sparking the Blue Devil comeback.
Blaine Seidl led all defenders with 11 tackles, while
Brooks Brewer and
Carson Tait each added five stops.
After Platteville took a 17-3 halftime lead, Moen's one-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter started Stout's comeback. The Pioneers extended the margin to 24-10 early in the fourth, but the Blue Devils answered with Moen's six-yard run midway through the period and the late score that brought them within one.
- Stout outgained Platteville 378-289 in total offense.
- The Blue Devils converted all four of their red-zone opportunities
- With the loss, UW-Stout fall 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the WIAC, while UW-Platteville improves to 7-2 and 4-2 in league play.
