MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stout Blue Devils fought valiantly in their season finale against the No. 4/5-ranked UW-River Falls Falcons on Saturday afternoon at Don & Nona Williams Stadium, ultimately falling 29-19 in a hard-fought contest. The Blue Devils close the 2025 campaign with a 5-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
The Falcons (9-1, 6-1 WIAC) clinched the WIAC title outright in the victory. While Stout while awaits to see if they are offered a bid to the Isthmus Bowl.
River Falls built a 13-0 halftime lead behind a pair of Justin Scheberl field goals and a 24-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter. The Falcons extended the advantage to 19-0 early in the third before the Blue Devils mounted their comeback.
Stout finally broke through midway through the third quarter when senior quarterback
Adam Moen capped a nine-play, 37-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run. After the Blue Devils forced a quick punt, Moen struck again — connecting with
Davonte Evans for a 17-yard touchdown with 1:05 remaining in the quarter, trimming the deficit to 19-13.
The Falcons responded with a long field goal and a quick three-play touchdown drive to push the lead to 29-13 with just over six minutes left. Stout answered again, as Moen punched in his second rushing score of the day from five yards out to finish a 63-yard drive, making it 29-19 with 3:23 to play. The Blue Devils forced a punt on the next possession but were unable to produce a final scoring drive.
Moen finished with 321 total yards, throwing for 270 and rushing for 51 with three total touchdowns. Evans led the receiving corps with six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, while freshman
Jojo James added four receptions for 89 yards.
Defensively, senior linebacker
Blaine Seidl paced Stout with 15 tackles, including six assists, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.
Brooks Brewer added 10 stops and forced a fumble, and the Blue Devils collected three interceptions — one each from
Gabe Kramer,
Braxton Munnikhuysen and
Carson Tait. Stout's defense also forced three fumbles and recovered two.
River Falls quarterback Kaleb Blaha accounted for all three Falcon touchdowns, throwing for one and rushing for two while totaling 405 yards of offense.
