Blue Devils Open Season on the Road at Saint Mary’s

WINONA, Minn. (November 7, 2025) – The UW-Stout men's hockey team opened the 2025–26 season on the road Friday night, falling 4-1 to Saint Mary's University at the Winona Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Cardinals broke through with three second-period goals to take control. Saint Mary's extended its lead to 3-0 before defenseman Maksis Brimanis got the Blue Devils on the board late in the third period with a power-play goal assisted by Sam Kroon and William Schofield at the 16:45 mark. Saint Mary's added an empty-netter to close out the scoring.

Goaltender Dawson Green made 27 saves in the loss, keeping Stout within reach through much of the night. The Blue Devils converted once on three power-play opportunities, while their penalty kill successfully held off all seven Saint Mary's chances.

UW-Stout (0-1-0) will be back in action tomorrow night, traveling to TRIA Rink in St. Paul to take on Hamline University at 5 p.m.
