LA CROSSE, Wis. (November 1, 2025) – The 23rd-ranked UW-Stout football team battled hard but came up short on the road against No. 10 UW-La Crosse, falling 31-14 Saturday afternoon at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field.
La Crosse (7-1, 5-1 WIAC) opened the scoring late in the first quarter on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Haas to Jack Janke. Stout answered midway through the second when senior quarterback
Adam Moen capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 1-yard keeper to even the score at 7-7.
However, La Crosse quickly regained the lead after returning a Stout fumble for a touchdown less than two minutes later and took a 14-7 advantage into halftime.
The Eagles extended the lead to 21-7 midway through the third, but Moen once again brought Stout within striking distance, finishing another 75-yard drive with his second 1-yard touchdown run of the day to make it 21-14.
La Crosse sealed the win with two fourth-quarter scores—a 12-yard touchdown run by Jacob Huber and a 47-yard field goal by Michael Stack.
Blue Devils (5-3, 3-2 WIAC) managed 265 yards of total offense. Moen finished 19-of-29 passing for 175 yards while adding 24 rushing yards and both of Stout's touchdowns.
Davonte Evans led all receivers with 83 yards on four catches, and
Avron Carter added eight receptions for 50 yards.
Chase Hughes paced the rushing attack with 44 yards on five carries.
Defensively,
Brooks Brewer recorded a team-high 12 tackles, while
Blaine Seidl added 11.
Walker Beyerl was active up front, tallying eight tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Gavin Goodman had six tackles and an interception.
Stout will look to bounce back next Saturday, November 8, when they travel to face UW-Platteville in another critical conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
