Never a Doubt, Stout Rolls to 10th Straight "War on 94" Victory

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The UW-Stout Blue Devils (3-1, 1-0 WIAC) rolled to a 42-17 win over rival UW-Eau Claire (3-1, 0-1 WIAC) on Saturday, running away with a commanding 42-17 victory at Carson Park to secure their 10th consecutive win in the annual "War on 94" rivalry game.

Stout set the tone early with a dominant ground game and explosive passing plays, outgaining Eau Claire 450-244 in total offense. The Blue Devils rushed for 223 yards on 50 carries, averaging 4.5 yards per attempt, while holding the Blugolds to just four net rushing yards on 23 attempts.

Senior quarterback Adam Moen led the Blue Devils' offense, accounting for four touchdowns and 331 total yards. Moen completed 10-of-16 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 104 yards and two more scores.

Stout jumped ahead early and never looked back. Chandler Ross capitalized on a opening drive Blugold fumble to open the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. Michael Reynolds and Walker Beyerl stopped Eau Claire on their next drive with a fourth down sack to give the ball back to the offense. Four plays later Chase Hughes plunged into the endzone from 1-yard out for a 14-0 lead. Eau Claire cut the margin to 14-10 in the second quarter, but Moen responded with a 9-yard touchdown run to cap an 11-play, 75-yard drive just before halftime.

The Blue Devils' offense erupted again in the third quarter. Moen capped off an 8 play 85-yard drive to open the half with a 44-yard touchdown strike to Davonte Evans. The defense forced an Eau Claire punt, and a big return by Avron Carter gave Stout the ball near midfield. Two plays later Moen found Evans again for a 55-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 35-10. Moen added a 3-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. Evans finished with 122 yards on four receptions and two touchdowns.

Stout's defense held Eau Claire to just four rushing yards on 23 attempts. Dawson Goodman and Jesse Ellis each grabbed interceptions, while Dre Bournes recorded a sack and two tackles for loss. Goodman led the team with seven tackles, one interception, and a pass breakup.

The Blue Devils will return home next Saturday, Oct. 11, to host UW-Oshkosh. Kickoff from Don and Nona Williams Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m.
