Blue Devils Clipped by Falcons in Tight WIAC Matchup

MENOMONIE, Wis. (October 22, 2025) – Despite generating strong offensive pressure in the second half, the UW-Stout women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss to UW-River Falls on Wednesday evening at Nelson Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Falcons capitalized in the 81st minute when Emery Bigler scored off an assist from Lauren Best to give River Falls the game's only goal.

UW-Stout (7-7-3, 1-2-2 WIAC) outshot the Falcons 14-13 and held an 11-5 edge in second-half shots, but could not find the back of the net despite several close looks. Bella Mickey and Anna Odisho each recorded two shots on goal, while Emma Balsley and Mia Brunelli were active in the attack with multiple scoring chances.

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Krengel turned in another strong performance, tallying seven saves to keep the Blue Devils in the match throughout.

With the WIAC standings tightly packed heading into the final stretch of the season, every point carries major postseason implications. The Blue Devils will look to bounce back and climb the table when they travel to UW-Whitewater on Saturday for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
