The Blue Devils upended the #2 ranked team in the country with an emphatic 6-2 victory over St. Norbert College. History repeated itself, as the last time the Blue Devils defeated a team ranked inside the top two was when they beat St. Norbert College in 2013, who was the top ranked team in the country at the time.

The Blue Devils came out of the game flying, putting together a flurry of goal-scoring opportunities in the first few minutes of the game. This early barrage resulted in St. Norbert taking an early penalty. Stout would soon capitalize, as Noah Perez beat the Green Knight goalie with a shot from the point to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game. Just ten minutes later, the Blue Devils would add another tally courtesy of Jack McAlpine. Stout would take a 2-0 into the first intermission.

The Green Knights were motivated to start the second period, and quickly cut the lead in half just three minutes into the second period, putting the pressure back on the Blue Devils. Stout would answer the call, as Jacob Halvorson scored to give Stout a 3-1 lead. Shortly after, Nicholas Stevens scored on the power play, the second power play goal of the game, giving Stout a 4-1 lead. The Blue Devils weren't done scoring in the second period, as Sam Kroon scored the third Blue Devil goal in just six minutes, extending the Stout lead to 5-1.

The Blue Devils kept their foot on the gas to begin the third period, as Jacob Halvorson scored his second goal of the game, just four minutes into the third period. The Green Knights were able to score a goal in the third, but the Blue Devils huge lead was too much for St. Norbert College to overcome, resulting in a 6-2 win for UW-Stout. Special teams played a big role in this contest, as the Blue Devil power play was 50% and their penalty kill was 100% against one of the most efficient power play units in the country. Hayden Stocks, Jacob Halvorson, and Nicholas Stevens all had a multi-point game in the victory.
