The Blue Devils let one slip away on Saturday, losing a heart-breaker to UW-Stevens Point. In a back-and-forth affair that was tight the entire way, it was the Pointers that were able to take advantage of their free throws and wrestle away an overtime victory from the Blue Devils.

UW-Stout came out of the gate hot, jumping out to an 11-1 lead in the first few minutes of the half. UWSP chipped away at the Blue Devil lead, finally overtaking Stout with eight minutes left in the first half- the first Pointer lead of the game. Stevens Point would ride that lead into half time, holding a 33-27 lead at halftime.

The second half was close the entire way. After a back and forth 18 minutes of basketball, the Blue Devils found themselves leading the game 65-62 after a three from
Jacob Walczak. The Stout defense held true and Walczak drained another three with 60 seconds remaining to give Stout a 68-62 lead. Stevens Point took advantage of some missed UW-Stout free throws and a untimely turnover, and sent the game into overtime, with both sides knotted at 72. The Pointers scored the first four points of overtime and never looked back, winning the game 87-83.
