The Oles got a power play midway through the third period, but could never get set up before Tyler Masternak came up with a big save on a 2-on-1 rush with less than eight minutes remaining. The Blue Devils were unsuccessful on a power play drawn with 1:43 to go, which carried over with 17 seconds of 4-on-3 power-play time for the Blue Devils in overtime.

Stout took the only two shots on goal of the extra session, which were saved by the St. Olaf goaltender to get the game to a shootout.
