Blue Devils Drop Home Opener 3-0 to St. Kate's

The Blue Devils dropped the home opener in straight sets Wednesday night. Stout fell behind 9-2 and stayed down seven at 16-9. Stout went on a 7-2 rally to cut the lead to 18-16. But that was as close as the Blue Devils would get, as St. Kate's closed the first set on a 7-3 run to lead 1-0. Stout opened the second set on a 5-1 run, only to see the Wildcats tie match at six with their own 5-1 run. St. Kate's opened a 16-11 lead. Stout would get within three at 20-17 but couldn't close the gap and the Wildcats took set two 25-19. The third set saw 15 ties and nine lead changes. Stout led 20-18 and 23-21, but St. Kate's closed on a 4-0 run to take the set and the match.
