Stout Splits Two Matches at Whitewater Invite

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Blue Devils split a pair of matches at the UW-Whitewater Volleyball Invitational II

The Basics Game 1
Score: UW-Stout 0 – #16 Millikin 3 (25-18, 25-22, 25-15)
Record: Blue Devils 4-4), Big Blue (8-2)
Location: Kris Russell Volleyball Arena

The Blue Devils fell in straight sets to the 16^th ranked Big Blue. Millikin took this first set with 20 kills on a .432 hitting percentage. The opening set was tied at 10, as Stout hung close, trailing 17-14, before Millikin closed on an 8-4 run to take the opening set. The Big Blue opened up a 13-4 lead in the second, Stout rallied to tie the set at 22, but three straight kills gave MU the 25-22 win and a 2-0 lead. Stout trailed 9-8 in the third but couldn't hang with Millikin as they closed on a 16-7 run to take the final set 25-15 to seal the win.

• Brooke McCune hit .227 with seven kills and 12 digs.
• Kennedy Barrett had 18 assists, four blocks and two kills.
• Terrah Moshier had 13 digs.

• Stout hit .135 as a team and totaled 50 digs, while Millikin hit .308 and had 62 digs.
• Stout only had two service errors.

Score: UW-Stout 3 – Concordia (Wis.) 2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-10)
Record: Blue Devils (5-4), Falcons (4-7)
Location: Kris Russell Volleyball Arena

A career-high 20 kills from Brooke McCune and nearly four Blue Devils in double-digit kills, lifted Stout to a five set win over Concordia (Wis.). Stout was able to take the first set that saw 11 ties and seven lead changes, Stout got three aces (two from McCune) and three kills from Kyra Giffen down the stretch to help seal the 25-23 win. Concordia was able to take the second set, tied at 22, two Blue Devil attacking errors, and a bad set gave the Falcons a 25-22 win. Concordia led by two to three points throughout the third set to take a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth. Leading 8-7 Stout went on a 11-3 run to open up the fourth and run away with a 25-15 win to force the deciding set. Six straight points gave Stout a 6-2 lead, Stout didn't let up, quickly taking a 10-4 advantage trading points before two Brynn Hessel kills gave Stout a15-10 win and the match 3-2.

• Brooke McCune hit .294 with a career-high 20 kills and added eight digs and three blocks.
• Terrah Moshier had 17 digs. 
• Kennedy Barrett had 37 assists, nine digs, five kills and two blocks.
• Sloan Horgan had nine kills, four blocks and three digs.
• Brynn Hessel had eight kills, and four blocks.

 
Inside the Box Score Game 2

• Stout hit .203 as a team and totaled 64 digs, while Concordia hit .116 had 63 digs.
• The teams combined for six players with double-digit digs.
• The teams combined for 18 blocks with Stout recording 11.
• Brook McCune was named to the All-Tournament Team.
• This was Stout's first win over Concordia.
