Menomonie, Wis. - Two early goals were not enough, as the Blue Devils dropped a 4-2 decision to the Cardinals of St. Mary's.

The Blue Devils had the momentum early in the game, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. In the 8
th minute, Stout scored the first goal of the game as Luca Jones took a calm touch in the box and slotted the ball in the bottom corner off an assist from
Alex Thayer. Stout stayed on the offensive in the 10
th minute with a dangerous shot after a nice turn inside from #10
Roberto Perez. Luca Jones extended the lead to 2-0, scoring his 2
nd goal of the game after he finished off a great low cross, again from
Alex Thayer, in the 18
th minute.Â
The momentum continued for the Blue Devils, as goalkeeper
Chase Holub denied a St. Mary's penalty kick in the 20
th minute to maintain the 2-0 lead. Holub totaled 3 saves in the game.Â
The tides turned in the 42
nd minute, as St. Mary's cut the Blue Devil lead to one going into half-time. The Cardinals were able to ride that wave, adding two goals in the first five minutes of the 2
nd half, taking a 3-2 lead. St. Mary's would add one final tally in the 57
th minute, making the final score 4-2.

The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday, September 14th, hosting North Central (Minn.) at 1 p.m. at Nelson Field in Menomonie.
