MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout Men's Soccer Team dropped the season opener 2-0 to Hamline University Friday Night at Nelson Field.
The Blue Devils allowed two goals in the first half. Stout recorded the first shot on goal three minutes into the game,
Max Meeh's attempt from just outside the right side of the 18 was turned away by a sprawling Hamline goalkeeper.
Hamline broke the scoreless tie in the 20
th minute, when Rigo Arellano tipped a corner kick from Jessie Juarez to give the Pipers a 1-0 lead.
Hamline doubled the lead just before the half, taking advantage of a turnover from the left side of the penalty area to take a 2-0 lead with 90 seconds remaining.
The teams remained scoreless in the scoreless in the second half. Hamline outshot Stout 21-2.
Chase Holub made eight saves in the second half for the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils will travel to Plymouth, Wis. to face Lakeland University on Sunday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Taylor Field.
