MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout Blue Devils dropped both games of a doubleheader in their home finale to UW-La Crosse Wednesday evening at Alumni Field. Falling 8-0 in six innings in game one and 6-2 in game two.
GAME ONE
Elise Weinzierl pitched a perfect game for the UW-La Crosse Eagles in a 8-0 6 inning win. The Eagles totaled 14 hits in the win. UWL scored two runs in both the first and second innings and added three in the sixth. It was the first time Stout has been on the losing end of a perfect game since April 21, 2007 against Stevens Point.
GAME TWO
UW-La Crosse had six of their nine hits in the fifth and sixth innings, paired with three errors in the fifth allowed the Eagles to break open a 1-1 tie. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Cristin Casey reached on an error and came around to score on an RBI single by Kyra Lard. Stout evened things up in the bottom of the second.
Alexa Anderson and
Abbey Dusterhoft hit back-to-back bunt singles and then advanced on a double steal.
Katelyn Belleau then reached on a bunt single to score Anderson to tie the game. But the Blue Devils stranded a pair a baserunners to stay tied after two innings of play. The game stayed tied at one until the top of the fifth. UWL scored two runs on three two-out errors. Stout got a run back in the bottom of the inning when
Payton Dolecki doubled to left field to score
Sammy Noreen. The Eagles extended the lead with three straight two-out hits to take a 6-2 lead. Stout got the first two batters aboard in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to drive them home.
Stephanie Kuhn was 2-3 for the Blue Devils.
Anna Blanford pitched 5.2 innings, striking out seven and giving up three earned runs for Stout.

The Blue Devils will close out the regular season with a doubleheader against No. 19 UW-Stevens Point on Friday, May 3. First pitch against the Pointers is set for 2 p.m. in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
