MENOMONIE - The Blue Devils dropped both games of a doubleheader to close out the weekend series with the UW-Platteville Pioneers. The Pioneers won game one 13-4 and game two 5-2.
GAME ONE
An a 11-run second inning lifted the Pioneers to a 13-4 win over UW-Stout in game one. Stout struck first in the top of the first when
Justin Sedin drove in Leyton Bowers on a sacrifice fly to center to give Stout an early 1-0 lead. UWP broke the game open in the bottom of the second scoring 11 runs on seven hits, two hit batters and a walk.
Nolan Harke scored
Justin Schnell in the fifth on an RBI ground out.
Jack Redwine doubled to right center in the sixth to score
Parker Hagebock and Schnell followed with an RBI ground out to second to score
Riley Boushack to make the score 11-4. Leyton Bowers was 3-5 as the Blue Devils scored four runs on nine hits. Luke Costly scattered five hits and struck out four in 6.2 innings of relief.
GAME TWO
The Blue Devils fell 5-2 to game two. The Blue Devils loaded the bases in the first and got two aboard in the second but were unable to push any runs across. Stout then took a 2-0 lead in the third on a pair of two-out hits.
Jack Redwine doubled to right center to score
Jacoby Endreas and
Justin Schnell followed with a single to center to score Redwine. The Pioneers loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and tied the game with a pair of runs. Platteville took the lead on a wild pitch on a walk. They scored two more on a throwing error on bunt down the third base line that allowed the Pioneers to take a 5-2 lead after five innings. Stout got a pair of singles in the eighth but ended the threat on a ground out to second.
Tucker Beving threw seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and struck out five to pick up the loss.

The Blue Devils will host a doubleheader against UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, April 10 at Nelson Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
