Blue Devils Wrap Up WIAC Play With Split at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH – The Blue Devils baseball team wrapped up WIAC play with a doubleheader split at UW-Oshkosh. Winning game one 4-2 and falling in game two 14-4 in eight innings.

GAME ONE
Stout took game one 4-2, scoring the go ahead runs in the sixth as Drew Buss scattered seven hits over eight innings, striking out six and allowing just two runs.  AJ Kargel led off the top of the third inning with a single down the left field line. The next two batter reached to load the bases and Kargel scored on a routine double-play ball off the bat of Jacoby Endreas. Stout's lead was short lived, as back-to-back singles in the bottom half of the inning by the Titans put runners on the corners. The Titans then executed a double steal to tie the game. Oshkosh took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout. Stout responded right away in the top of the sixth. Endreas reached on a throwing error by the Titan third baseman and came around to score on Jack Schirpke's double to right center. Drew Ries then singled to center to score Schirpke to give Stout the lead back at 3-2. Kargel gave the Blue Devils an insurance run in the top of the ninth, singling home Leyton Bowers to give Stout a 4-2 lead. Tim Kohls came in and pitched a one-two-three ninth to pick up his second save of the weekend.

GAME TWO
Big innings late in the game gave Oshkosh a 14-4 eight inning win in game two. Stout led 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth. But a lead off homerun and two errors gave UWO a 6-3 lead. Riley Boushack got a run back in the seventh with a homer to left. The Titans hit a two-out two run homer in the seventh to lead 8-4. The Titans ended the game early scoring six runs on five hits to win 14-4. Boushack was 3-4 and Justin Sedin and Jack Schirpke each had two hits apiece.
