Fourth Quarter Rally Lifts Stout Past MSOE 12-11

MILWAUKEE – A six goal fourth quarter lifted the Blue Devils to an 12-11 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night.

Mai Nou Vang scored the eventual game winner with 2:17 left in the game to give Stout a 12-10 lead as the Blue Devils held on in the final minute to secure the win.

MSOE took the lead just thirty seconds into the game. Brinley Tonn scored at 8:12 to tie the game at one. MSOE quickly retook the lead just ten seconds later. They extended the lead to 3-1 at the 6:19 mark. Lilly Thomas got Stout within a goal late in the first. But MSOE retook the two goal advantage with 1:28 left to lead 4-2 after one quarter of play.

MSOE scored 19 seconds into the second to lead 5-2 and took a four-goal lead at the 8:25 mark of the second. Ally Crymble scored her 20th of the season with 5:25 left in the half and Emma Matthews scored shortly afterwards to net her 33rd of the season to pull Stout within two at the half.

Maddy Nuttall scored both of the Blue Devils goals in the third quarter and Stout trailed 9-6 heading into the final 15 minutes.

Stout and the Raiders traded goals early in the fourth. Thomas scored her second of the game and eighth of the year to bring Stout within two goals at 10-8 with 10:24 left to play. Midway through the quarter Mai Nou Vang scored her second of the game to bring Stout within one. And Maddy Nuttall netted her first career hat trick goal with 4:48 left to tie the game at 10 goals apiece. Abigail Todey scored her third of the season just 46 seconds later to give Stout their first lead of the game. Vang scored her hat trick goal with 2:17 left to play to give Stout a two-goal advantage. MSOE score with 1:04 remaining. But the Blue Devils held on down the stretch to secure the road win. Katt Squire made 13 saves in the win.

Stout was successful on 17 of their 19 clear attempts.

UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will return home to host Southwestern University (Texas) on Saturday, April 27. Game time is set for 4 p.m. on Nelson Field.
