Blue Devils Sweep UW-Platteville in Home Opener

GAME ONE
The Blue Devils walked off the Pioneers when Payton Dolecki hit an RBI double to the gap in right center to give Stout the 2-1 win. 

Both teams were scoreless through four and half innings. Katelyn Belleau led off the bottom of the fifth with a homer to left center. The Pioneers hit a two-out double down the left field line to tie the game in the top of the sixth. Mackensie Wolterstorff led off the bottom of the seventh with a bunt single, Belleau followed with an infield single. Wolterstorff advanced to third on a throwing error on the play. Ashley Jacobson reached on a field choice to the pitcher and Walterstorff as out at the plate. A batter later, Payton Dolecki doubled to right center to score Belleau to give the Blue Devils the walk off win. Wolterstorff pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and one run with four strike outs to pick up the win. Wolterstorff, Belleau, and Donna D'Addabbo each had two hits for Stout. 

GAME TWO
Anna Blanford scattered seven hits and struck out six to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-2 win in game two. Donna D'Addabbo hit a two-out single to right center to drive in Ashley Jacobson to give Stout an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. Platteville tied the game on an error in the top of the third. Alyssa Albrecht worked a two-out walk in the bottom of the third, stole second, and came around to score on a double to deep center field from Payton Dolecki. D'Addabbo reached on an error and Stephanie Kuhn reached on an infield single to score Dolecki to give Stout a 3-1 lead. In the fourth, Jacobson singled up the middle to score Elly Holden. Dolecki singled through the left side to score Jacobson to Stout a 5-1 lead. UWP added a run in the top of the fifth. But Blanford and the Blue Devils shut the door in the final 2.1 innings to seal the win. 

UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will host UW-River Falls in a doubleheader on Monday, April 22. First pitch from Alumni Field is set for 4 p.m.
