MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout Blue Devils split a doubleheader with UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field. dropping game one 13-7 and winning game two 8-2.
GAME ONE
Stout fell 13-7 in game one. The
Blugolds started with a three-run first inning. Stout responded in the bottom of the inning when
Jacoby Endreas hit a two-run bomb to center field. The
Blugolds hit a three-run homer in the third inning to take a 6-2 lead.
Justin Sedin got a run back for the Blue Devils with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. The Blue Devils tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Stout loaded the bases and
Justin Schnell drove in
Endreas on a fielder's choice to second.
Vinnie Fonti then hit a sacrifice bunt to third to score
Jack Redwine and AJ
Kargal followed with a single to right field to knot the game at six.
Redwine gave Stout the lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single to left to score Sedin. UWEC scored three in the sixth and added three more in the seventh to take a 12-7 lead and added one more in the eighth to take a 13-7 lead. Stout loaded the bases in the seventh but was unable to score.
Sedin,
Redwine and
Kargel each had three hits for the Blue Devils.
GAME TWO
The Blue Devils responded with an 8-2 win in game two. Stout held the
Blugolds to four hits in the win, while totaling 15. Stout struck first in the bottom of the first when
Jack Redwine hit a two out double to right field to score
Justin Sedin and
Jacoby Endreas. Stout added three more in the second when
Justin Sedin cleared the bases with two-out double to left field to score Leyton Bowers, Collin Hageman and
Kyler Hove.
Redwine doubled to center to lead off the third and scored on an error to give Stout a 6-0 lead. UWEC got on the board in the fourth, scoring two on an error. Stout got the two runs back in the bottom of the fourth. Bowers drove in
Hagebock on a sacrifice fly and
Redwine singled to center to score Sedin to take an 8-2 lead.
Drew Buss threw a complete game allowing four hits and two runs, none earned, and striking out nine to pick up the win.
Redwine was 4-5 and Sedin with 3-5, both had three RBI.

The Blue Devils and
Blugolds will wrap up the four-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow Sunday, April 21. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
