WHITEWATER – The UW-Stout Blue Devil Baseball team dropped both games of the double-header with No. 14 UW-Whitewater to fall to 5-7 and 0-4 in WIAC play.
GAME 1
The Blue Devils fell 9-6 in game after a late inning rally fell short. The Blue Devils got on the board first in the top of the first inning when
Justin Sedin hit a hot shot between the third baseman's legs to score Leyton Bowers for the game's first run. Bowers scored again in the third when
Jack Schirpke doubled to right center to double the Stout lead. In the bottom half of the inning, UWW got the first three batters aboard and got a bases clearing two out double to take a 4-2 lead. The Warhawks scored two more on a two out error caused by the wind in the bottom of the fourth. UWW held a 9-3 lead heading into the eighth. Bowers started the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a comebacker to the pitcher.
Justin Sedin reached on a error by the right fielder that put runners on first and second.
Jacoby Endreas walked to load the bases.
Drew Ries drew a walk to score Bowers.
Justin Schnell and
Riley Boushack each were hit by pitch to score two more. But Stout couldn't get a hit with the tying run on first base. Stout got two aboard in the top of the ninth but couldn't get another hit. Bowers was 2-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Schirpke had two hits and Boushack was 2-23 with an RBI.
GAME 2
Stout stuck out 19 times and had one hit and two baserunners in a 6-0 loss in game two. The first nine batters struck out for the Blue Devils. Stout got their first baserunner abroad in the fifth off of a walk fro
Justin Schnell, but he was then caught stealing to end the inning. The Blue Devils went down in order until Schnell reached in the eighth off of a wild pitch on a third strike.
Nolan Harke broke up the no-hitter with a lead off double to right center but was thrown out attempting to stretch it into a triple.

The Blue Devils will travel to Winona, Minn. on Thursday, April 4 to face Saint Mary's University. First pitch from Max Molock Field is set for 3 p.m.
