Blue Devil Baseball Drops Doubleheader at UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER – The UW-Stout Blue Devil Baseball team dropped a pair of games to No. 14 UW-Whitewater in the WIAC opener.

GAME 1
The Blue Devils gave up six-runs in the bottom of the first and six in sixth to drop game one 14-0 in seven innings.  The first six Warhawks reached in the bottom of the first as UWW scored six runs on five hits, two walks and an error to take an early lead. UWW added two more in the bottom of the third and then broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth with six more runs on six hits. Stout scattered seven hits over seven innings and struck out 11 times. Stout only able to get a runner to second base three times and got one to third in the top of the seventh. Jack Schirpke was 2-3 at the dish.

GAME 2
Stout fell 6-2 in game two. Leyton Bowers reached first after getting plunked on the games first pitch and Parker Hagebock reached on an error by the first baseman and Stout had the first two aboard. A batter later, Jacoby Endreas singled to right to score Bowers and pick up an RBI. The first three Warhawks reached in the bottom of the second inning and UWW took a 2-1 lead. Justin Sedin hit solo shot to left center in the top of the third to tie the game at two. Again the first three Warhawks reached and UWW retook the lead 3-2 after three innings of play. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when UWW scored three runs on four hits to take a 6-2 lead. Lucas Lendosky gave up seven hits and three runs while striking out five in five innings on the bump for the Blue Devils.  The UWW pitchers gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out 12. Sedin was 2-3 with a HR and a walk.
 
UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will wrap up their four-game series with the Warhawks with a double header tomorrow. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Prucha Field at Jim Miller Stadium.
